About the Role:The Core Services team owns the sensor infrastructure that every CrowdStrike endpoint depends on: secure network communications, cryptographic operations, content delivery, and secure local data storage. These are foundational runtime components that execute on every protected endpoint across Windows, Linux, and macOS.
As a Senior Engineer on this team, you will build, extend, and maintain the low-level systems that connect the Falcon Sensor to the CrowdStrike cloud - handling connection lifecycle management, traffic and protocol management, cryptographic integration, content delivery, and on-device storage at endpoint fleet scale.
This is a systems software role. You'll work close to the OS across multiple platforms, reason carefully about correctness and performance under real-world load, and hold a high engineering bar in a codebase where reliability is non-negotiable. You will work cross-functionally with peer engineers across Mac, Linux, Windows, and many other teams inside and outside your core organization in a diverse environment.
You're stepping into a team with established component ownership and a charter that is actively expanding. The engineering spans cross-platform correctness, performance-sensitive code paths, and cryptographic and network components where a defect is a security event. You'll work alongside engineers who take the reliability bar seriously; regressions here land on every protected endpoint simultaneously. If you want to build foundational software that runs at global scale and has a direct impact on security outcomes, this is the role.
What You'll Do:- Design, implement, and own core sensor infrastructure components: network communications stack, connection lifecycle and traffic management, cryptographic integration, content delivery, and on-device secure storage
- Take end-to-end ownership of your work - from design through production validation across Windows, Linux, and macOS, including the testing and rollback story
- Serve as a technical integration point with sensor, cloud communication, and policy teams; proactively own interface contracts and surface breaking changes early
- Drive technical proposals and design docs; lead design reviews for your area and provide substantive review feedback that raises the bar for the whole team
- Represent the team's technical position in cross-org planning and architecture discussions; communicate tradeoffs and risks clearly to engineering, product, and program partners
- Participate in planning; help scope work, identify dependencies, and flag technical risk early
- Mentor and grow more junior engineers through direct feedback, pairing, and collaborative code and design review
- Investigate and resolve production incidents and complex escalations; build the team's shared knowledge of failure modes at fleet scale
- Champion improvements in end-to-end testing and validation for components with strict correctness and reliability requirements
What You'll Need:- Strong foundation in systems software engineering; hands-on experience in C and/or C++ in a low-level systems context
- Solid technical grounding in network protocols, connection management, and traffic and protocol management; working familiarity with cryptographic integration and content delivery
- A "learn it all" mindset with curiosity to dive deep into unfamiliar domains and adapt quickly as technology and requirements evolve
- Experience reasoning about reliability and correctness for software that runs at endpoint fleet scale
- Cross-platform exposure across Windows, Linux, and/or macOS; ability to reason about portability, behavioral consistency, and platform-specific constraints
- Solid design and problem-solving instincts; ability to own ambiguous technical problems and drive them to clean resolution
- Ability to influence technical direction across team boundaries without direct authority, using design docs, prototypes, and well-reasoned technical positions
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to convey complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong engineering fundamentals: testable, reviewable code; careful about edge cases; high personal bar
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for team offsites and in-person meetings
- Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.
Bonus Points:- Background in endpoint security, EDR, kernel-adjacent software, or sensor platform engineering
- Experience with cryptographic service design or integration with security-critical cryptographic libraries
- Experience building or operating content distribution or configuration delivery systems at endpoint fleet scale: atomic updates, staged rollout, versioning, and rollback-safe delivery
- Open source contributions, technical writing, or a visible engineering presence through conference talks or published work
