Total Rewards: Benefits/Incentive InformationJOB DESCRIPTIONGENERAL FUNCTIONSThe Sr., Product Development Engineer is part of the entire development process, being especially responsible for the industrialization of the product by identifying business needs, driving technical decisions, analyzing production capabilities and quality aspects of the product as well as being a technical reference for the team. In addition to that, lead continuous process improvement projects to reduce NVA activities within our product development processes.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Responsible for developing the mechanical/technical development of new product models including mechanical engineering, material selection, tool and process design, technical drawings, and PLM
- Design and develop high complexity models for managing uncertainty and risks by having contingency plans and driving the decision-making process
- Lead multiple projects, schedule coordination and tracking within a fast-paced product development environment
- Lead and/or coach other members of the team - Subject matter expert and provide technical reference
- Identify and implement quick improvement projects in the product development process
- Lead cross functional team through new product introduction process from sketch to mass production and Continuous Improvement projects.
- Communicate project status to department manager and applicable departments.
- Identify, propose and initiate continuous improvement and cost reduction programs
- Provide innovative solutions to overall industry challenges resulting in occasional patent grants
- Maintain a safe, organized and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Work effectively and collaboratively with others
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in engineering, product development or project management
- Demonstrated knowledge in Injection-molded component design and processing
- Knowledge of metal component manufacturing techniques
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, Kaizen, 6-Sigma, JIT, Set-up Reduction, etc
- Experience in FMEA, DFM and problem-solving methodologies
- Proficient in at least one CAD software package (Solidworks/ProE/Rhino/Alias)
- Proficient in 2D drafting ANSI/ASME standards, best practices, dimensioning & tolerancing, GD&T
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, assembly, automation) and general surface treatment techniques (painting, plating, pad-printing, etc.)
- Good communication skills and ability to interface with related departments
- Ability to work on broad range of assignments with minimum supervision
- Knowledge of system processes that ensure decisions are data driven
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Master's degree preferred
- Previous project management experience
- Proficient in SAP and prior use of tools like DOE, CpK, MSA
- Understanding of product cost composition/structure
- Made in the USA manufacturing experience
- Photoshop/illustrator experience
- Previous consumer hard goods development/manufacturing experience
- Lean Manufacturing certification - Preferred
- Bilingual - English / Spanish / Italian
Pay Range: 120,658.00 - 165,052.60
