Senior Engineer I on the Consumer Payment Portal team, you will be a core architect of the digital interface that empowers consumers to resolve their financial obligations with ease and dignity. This isn't just a standard transaction engine; it is a high-concurrency, user-centric payment ecosystem. You will collaborate directly with our UX and Payments teams to bridge the gap between complex backend services and a flawless web interface.
Your primary goal is to introduce innovative payment workflows-like flexible scheduling and alternative payment methods-while championing code maintainability, managing technical debt, and executing long-term technical roadmaps.
What You'll Do:- Shape the Consumer Experience: Partner cross-functionally with UX and Payments teams to design, build, and maintain a seamless, accessible front-end web experience that removes friction from the payment process.
- Architect Modern Workflows: Develop and extend cutting-edge features, including alternative payment integrations and flexible scheduling models, to give consumers personalized options that suit their financial realities.
- Own the Initiative Lifecycle: Take full end-to-end technical responsibility over complex, long-term product features, from initial scoping with Product Management to production delivery and post-launch stewardship.
- Drive Technical Strategy: Translate high-level business and product requirements into elegant, documented technical implementations, contributing directly to the team's engineering roadmap.
- Champion Engineering Excellence: Write high-quality, highly maintainable code across our streaming architectures and microservices, leading by example through constructive, detailed feedback in code reviews.
- Conquer Technical Debt: Proactively identify, prioritize, and record structural inefficiencies within the codebase, planning and executing clear paths to systematically resolve tech debt.
- Multiply Team Impact: Mentor and level up fellow engineers through pair-programming and active knowledge sharing, while supporting a healthy team balance to prevent overwork and burnout.
- Guard System Reliability: Predict potential system breaking points, implement robust automated testing, and participate in an on-call rotation to maintain the exceptional uptime of your team's domain.
Who You Are:- A Proven Full-Stack Builder: You bring 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep, hands-on proficiency in Golang and React.
- UX-Fluency: You have a strong, empathetic understanding of front-end engineering and user experience patterns, knowing how to build interfaces that are as performant as they are intuitive.
- A Systems Thinker: You possess a mature understanding of microservices, distributed systems, data modeling, and A/B testing paradigms, allowing you to make calculated development trade-offs.
- An Autonomous Operator: You are a natural self-starter capable of navigating complex codebases and solving deep technical problems independently, quickly becoming a go-to domain expert for the team.
- An Elite Communicator: You can comfortably facilitate technical and non-technical alignment meetings, establishing clear agendas and driving cross-functional groups toward decisive project outcomes.
- A Cultural Anchor: You lead by example, taking a proactive interest in scaling the team's collective intelligence, protecting engineering boundaries, and actively participating on hiring panels to bring in top-tier talent.
