Job Description:

Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing, Troubleshooting, Planning, and Design for electrical and electronic components used on Caterpillar products. This role is in Cat Technology and supports Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) across Caterpillar.

What You Will Do:
• Write, review, and execute EMC test plans for electrical and electronic systems and components.
• Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to electrical and electronic systems and components, as well as EMC test equipment.
• Manage EMC testing projects, ensuring appropriate requirements are used and met, responding quickly to challenges to keep the project moving.
• learn and communicating requirements for multiple industries.
• Document test results in accordance with various standards.
• Review and develop EMC test methods to mitigate EMC risks and ensure the EMC lab outputs high quality results.
• Mentoring technicians and engineers in the EMC hardening of electrical and electronic systems and components.
• Automate testing using EMC test automation tools and AI.
• Work with a global team of peers to provide EMC consulting for Caterpillar design engineers.
• Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, or Science curriculum including EMC design or RF physics.

What You Will Have:

Electromagnetic Compatibility -Knowledge of EMC tests, instruments, and standards. Ability to understand EMC problems and propose economical and effective design improvements.

Effective Communications - Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Project Management - Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Relationship Management - Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients and peers.

Technical Excellence - Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.:

Electronics Engineering - HTH: Knowledge of electronics engineering; ability to design, test and manufacture electronic circuits, components and devices.

Reliability Management - HTH: Knowledge of reliability management; ability to utilize various tools, techniques, methodologies and metrics to meet and manage hardware product performance and reliability objectives.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems - Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a product development environment.

Top Candidates Will Have:
  • A bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, or Science curriculum including EMC design or RF physics.
  • Deep experience with Electromagnetic Compatibility testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
  • A history of complex troubleshooting
  • Understanding of design for RF filters and/or antennas
  • Awareness of common ISO, IEC and CISPR EMC standards


Additional Details:
  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL office.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
