Main Purpose of Job & Key Responsibilities
Working within the Avtron New Product Development (NPD) team the individual will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering new and enhanced MV technology that can be utilized within our future MV products. These products, and their associated architecture will continue Avtron's leadership in the MV marketplace. Your mission will be to develop solutions that meet the needs of our customer base in a timely and cost-efficient manner to the correct safety, performance, legislation and quality standards. You will ensure design intend is realized through timely interaction and communication with key customers, suppliers and internal cross functional team members.
• Concept creation using market and customer requirements data. Getting involved in voice of customer (VoC) exercises as and when required.
• Electrical design - lead the generation of medium voltage electrical designs up to primary distribution levels using state of the art components and insulation systems
• Creation of electrical drawings, models and schematics using suitable CAD packages.
• Creation of engineering technical specifications and BOM's.
• Define, lead and support product DFMEA's, validation and testing programs as required.
• System integration - ensuring products are designed for manufacture and assembly (DFM & DFA) and meet the expected performance targets.
• Creation of test reports, technical documents and instruction manuals to support future customer product use.
• Ensure product safety and compliance is achieved re. agreed codes & standards(e.g. CE, UL, CSA, ANSI and IEEE).
• Identify, develop and implement opportunities for improvement to enhance our future products by keeping abreast of new and emerging technologies.
• Ongoing system and process improvements to enhance the way we work and drive department / business efficiency.
Qualifications
• Suitable electrical qualifications (e.g.BS /Beng electrical degree) plus proven industrial and product experience.
• 10 years plus working within a MV component /power management/substation/switch gear product development role.
• Experieince with AutoCAD /SolidWorks Electrical would be a plus
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 suite of productivity tools
• Professional Engineer (PE) / chartered engineering status a bonus.
Proven Skills
• Understanding of HV/MV plus LV circuits. Ideally, electrical design experience linked to load banks, gensets, transformers, switch gear and/ or grid connect power transmission circuits and systems.
• Knowledge and experience of MV power handling components and insulation systems and their utilization.
• A strong personality with energy, drive, adaptability, problem solving and decision-making capability. Having worked with similar electrical products and can bring an aligned and best practise experience to allow the continued growth of the engineering team / business.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, comfortable presenting to and engaging with key working parties both internally and externally.

• Organized, self-disciplined, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver in a timely manner as required.
• Both people and process orientated to help them drive and achieve common goals through relationship building and collaboration.
