Job Description - Sr Electrical Designer

About the role:

The Senior Electrical Designer is responsible for developing and coordinating electrical design deliverables for assigned projects, ensuring technical accuracy, code compliance, and alignment with project requirements. This role supports project execution through cross-functional collaboration, design documentation, field support, and guidance to junior team members.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

Design and Technical Development

  • Develop electrical designs, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and installation drawings.


  • Interpret project requirements, drawings, and customer specifications into practical design solutions.


  • Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, cable routing, and layout reviews to support system design.


  • Prepare design packages, specifications, bills of materials, and construction documentation.


Compliance and Quality

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and engineering practices.


  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate redlines, field changes, and stakeholder feedback.


  • Maintain drawing revisions, as-built documentation, and design records throughout the project lifecycle.


Coordination and Project Execution

  • Coordinate electrical design activities with mechanical, controls, process, and project teams.


  • Manage assigned design deliverables to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.


  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to review technical submittals, equipment data, and material selections.


Leadership and Field Support

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters.


  • Support site visits, field verification, and troubleshooting to validate designs and resolve installation issues.


These are the must-have requirements for the role:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in electrical design within an industrial, manufacturing, consulting, or project-based environment.


  • Proficiency in electrical design and drafting software, such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools.


  • Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and safe design practices.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate's position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The compensation range for this role is $80,000 CAD to $ 115,000 CAD. This job is also eligible fora bonus pay. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, and medical/dental/vision insurance to eligible employees. Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
