Key Responsibilities

Editorial strategy and content development

  • Partner with editorial strategy leaders to develop and execute content agendas aligned with business priorities.
  • Identify emerging trends, timely issues, and high-impact storytelling opportunities relevant to financial advisors.
  • Shape narratives, content frameworks, and thought leadership platforms across priority topics.
  • Translate research, data, and subject-matter expertise into audience-centered editorial concepts.
  • Recommend content formats, distribution approaches, and editorial treatments that maximize audience value.
 

Reporting and subject matter expertise

  • Conduct interviews with internal and external subject-matter experts, researchers, portfolio managers, executives, and financial advisors.
  • Synthesize insights from interviews, proprietary research, industry reports, surveys, academic studies, and market developments.
  • Develop a deep understanding of advisor needs, industry challenges, investment trends, and practice management opportunities.
  • Ensure content reflects current industry developments and evolving advisor expectations.
 

Writing and editing

  • Write and edit articles, research-based thought leadership, executive bylines, presentations, scripts, reports, web content, and other advisor-facing materials.
  • Elevate content through rigorous editing, ensuring clarity, sophistication, consistency, and editorial excellence.
  • Translate complex concepts into persuasive, engaging narratives without sacrificing accuracy or nuance.
  • Ensure Vanguard's voice, perspective, and standards are consistently reflected across content.
 

Research and thought leadership

  • Partner with research teams to identify opportunities for proprietary studies, surveys, benchmarks, and advisor-focused insights.
  • Help shape research questions, storytelling approaches, and editorial implications of research findings.
  • Develop narratives that turn research findings into compelling thought leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to repurpose research across multiple channels and audiences.
 

Stakeholder partnership

  • Build strong relationships with researchers, product teams, investment experts, practice management consultants, marketing partners, communications teams, and senior leaders.
  • Facilitate productive content development and review processes across diverse stakeholders.
  • Balance multiple priorities while maintaining high editorial standards and meeting deadlines.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on content quality, storytelling, and audience relevance.
 What You Will Need
  • 8+ years of experience in editorial strategy, financial journalism, content development, thought leadership, financial communications, or related fields.
  • Experience working in wealth management, asset management, or investment research.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to translate complex subject matter into compelling content for professional audiences.
  • Experience working closely with senior stakeholders and subject-matter experts.
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to identify meaningful stories, trends, and opportunities.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
 

Preferred

  • Knowledge of wealth management and financial planning trends and the business of delivering financial advice, including a wide range of practice management topics
  • Knowledge of markets, investment strategy and products, portfolio construction, and capital markets.
  • Experience developing proprietary research, surveys, benchmarking studies, or research-driven thought leadership.
  • Experience writing for executive audiences or external media-quality publications.
  • Familiarity with advisor-facing content platforms, thought leadership programs, and integrated content ecosystems.
  • Experience developing editorial governance, content planning, editorial calendar management, content rationalization, and enterprise alignment.
