Job Summary

As the Senior Director of Environmental Services, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Environmental Services (EVS) Department within a large 650 bed acute care hospital. This role is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients, visitors, and staff while overseeing departmental operations, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and team development. The Senior Director partners closely with hospital leadership and cross-functional departments to drive service excellence, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction. This position typically reports to a Regional Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for Environmental Services operations within an acute care hospital
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4 salaried managers and 114 hourly associates, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and operational excellence
  • Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets, financial performance, and productivity metrics
  • Ensure department operations are aligned with established financial goals and budget expectations
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership and department managers to support organizational priorities and service excellence
  • Coordinate EVS activities with clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure seamless hospital operations
  • Plan, organize, direct, and oversee all departmental functions, workflows, staffing, and performance standards
  • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, infection prevention, and accreditation standards
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and support organizational performance objectives
  • Analyze operational and financial data to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and outcomes
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain a high-performing management and frontline team
  • Maintain current and accurate job descriptions and performance expectations for department staff
  • Promote professional development and encourage participation in training and educational programs
  • Build strong relationships with hospital administration and key stakeholders through proactive communication and partnership
