POSITION OVERVIEW: As a
Sr. Designer at LJA
Transportation, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the design work for a project under the direct supervision of the Project Manager.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:- Development of horizontal alignments, vertical alignments, and cross-sections using Microstation Select Series 4 (SS4) and Geopak
- Assist with establishing production budgets based on work required
- Apply manpower needs for deadlines and budgets
- Determine and schedule project deadlines
- Assist with change order/revision documentation on plan sets
- Prepare a construction phasing plan for completion of project
- Other assigned duties as required
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:- Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- 10+ years experience designing transportation projects (TxDOT, HCTRA, or similar) using GEOPAK and MicroStation SS4.
- Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:- Effective communication skills both oral and written
- Effective interpersonal skills with coworkers and public agency officials
- Extensive contact with outside agencies and project team members
- Ability to build strong relationships
