Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed cost control research and data analysis for project evaluations.
  • Prepare and present cost management recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Support project portfolio implementation, analysis, and reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on scope and cost documentation using estimating and cost management techniques.
  • Gather data from project stakeholders in a matrix organizational structure.

Hill International is seeking a Sr. Cost Specialist in Pomona, California

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project budgets/baseline and expenditure plans for assigned major and/or multi-year project(s) and/or programs.
  • Develop the aggregation, reconciliation, and update to the budget(s), forecast(s) and spending plan(s) according to jurisdiction splits, asset types, cost drivers, and funding sources.
  • Perform detailed research, updates, and data gathering/analysis in areas of cost controls (e.g. budget, actual, commitment, contingency, earned value, cost per unit, cost impact analysis).
  • Prepare and present results, alternatives, and/or recommendations to support business decisions, to manage project costs and schedules, and to mitigate potential risks to major and/or multi-year project(s) and/or programs.
  • Support the implementation, analysis, and reporting of the project portfolio
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and utilize applicable estimating, cost management, and/or scheduling knowledge, techniques, and tools to document scope and cost.
  • Collaborate with and obtain data/information from various project stakeholders (e.g. project managers, functional managers, discipline leads, and team members) in a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, maintain positive working relationships, and exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with multiple parties.


Qualifications

  • A combination of education, training, and experience, generally equivalent to those typically possessed by a 4-year college graduate. Preferred Finance, Accounting, or Mathematical background.
  • 7+ years' experience in cost controls/management
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management, Project Controls, and/or Construction Management, or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience using Microsoft software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) and SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Solutions application. Power BI experience required.
  • Utility construction experience preferred.
  • Must be local to Southern California, hybrid role in Pomona, CA

The salary range for this position is $110,000-$130,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.
