Job Summary

The Sr. Construction Manager is primarily responsible for assisting Operations and Project Managers in the construction of structures in a safe and economical manner in line with established plans and procedures. The Construction Manager is responsible for complete oversight of field execution activities and directs all daily craft work through subordinate personnel. The Construction Manager acts as a resource for job planning and execution for EPC Industrial Construction projects. This position will be located on an assigned project, on location.

Essential Functions
  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."
  • Always represents the Company with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics."
  • Direct involvement assisting operations and project management in pre-job planning of project budgets, schedules, safety plans, quality control plans, equipment plans, staffing plans, and subcontractor selections.
  • Maintains accountability for safety on the project; conducts required evaluations pursuant to Safety Accountability Program. Actively promotes and supports company's safety programs. Includes HSE Managers in field planning and incorporates safe execution of the work into every plan.
  • Conducts regular safety audits to monitor craft compliance with company and client safety programs. Implements corrective measures when required.
  • Actively participates in the development of the project organization requirements and assists with the staffing of key positions. Ensures that key positions are filled with qualified and properly trained candidates.
  • Attends bid meetings and walk downs at various client locations to determine scope of work, complexities, accessibilities, and required content of estimates.
  • Assists with the review of RFP instructions, specifications, drawings, technical data, and other associated documents as necessary to schedule, estimate, and support the development of the proposal to the client for the work.
  • Provides oversight and support to payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable personnel assigned to the project.
  • Develops construction procedures to meet Company needs. Trains employees and Foremen on procedures to enhance efficiencies. Assists Foremen to ensure excellent construction practices are maintained.
  • Directly responsible for the coordination of work activities performed by subcontractors and other key vendors.
  • Conducts frequent walk-downs and inspections of the construction area to assist staff members with directing and evaluating work in progress or completed work.
  • Enforces policies and operating procedures within the division in line with corporate policy.
  • Conducts daily coordination meetings with subordinates and subcontractors to ensure priorities are clearly understood and adherence to the overall project plan is met.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to subordinate managers on operational issues and acts as additional point of contact on project related problems.
  • Participates as needed in the resolution of problems on projects or with clients; assists field project personnel in estimating Field Change Orders for assigned projects as required.
  • Conducts progress and schedule review meetings with client.
  • Performs general administrative, record keeping, and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • 6+ years' job-related experience and bachelor's degree in engineering or construction, or 10 years' job-related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes and standards and their impact on project activities.
  • Working and/or subject matter knowledge of oil field design, construction, finance, and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
  • Strong working knowledge of estimating, scheduling, and cost controls. Practical experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication (oral, written) and computer skills (including MS Word, Project, and Excel).
