The Staff Construction Category Analyst directs worldwide construction cost assessment, should-cost/clean-sheet modeling, risk evaluation, forecasting, and full lifecycle change-order oversight for large semiconductor capital programs. This position conducts competitive bid assessments, examines supplier proposals, and produces data-driven sourcing advice to improve capex reliability and realize measurable savings and cost avoidance. The role engages closely with cross-functional contacts to standardize tools, processes, and reporting that improve commercial coherence and support flawless delivery of our challenging goals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited toStrategic Category & Commercial Analytics:- Lead comprehensive bid analytics (RFP analysis, bid tabulation, scope normalization, bid leveling) for global construction and semiconductor infrastructure packages.
- Support sourcing across Cost Plus, GMP, Lump Sum, Unit-Rate/SOV, and T&M arrangements, including assessment of fees/markups, blocking issues, contingency, LD/bonus mechanisms, bonding/insurance, payment terms, and schedule impacts.
Cost Modeling, Benchmarking & Risk:- Develop and maintain should-cost and clean-sheet models for fab, cleanroom, chemical building, and process-utility scopes including labor, materials, equipment, indirects, overhead/fee, contingency, and blocking issues.
- Build/update benchmarking baselines to compare cost competitiveness across regions and project types.
Cost Analytics, Reporting & Insights:- Analyze cost drivers and variances; identify risks, opportunities, and market trends for mega-capital programs.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, risk heatmaps, and scenario analyses with Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Snowflake, Python (or similar).
Performance Tracking, Data Integrity & Governance:- Track cost performance against budgets, risk allowances, and commercial assumptions across workstreams and projects.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of cost, benchmarking, bid, change-order, and supplier datasets for reporting and analytics.
Executive Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration:- Work alongside Procurement, Engineering, Construction, Finance, Operations, and Project Controls to foster continuous progress and negotiation readiness by applying should-cost models and supplier intelligence.
Minimum Qualifications:- Master's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years in cost management/controls, cost modeling, sophisticated analytics, and commercial bid analytics within global construction capital projects (e.g., cleanroom, hospital, pharma, or high-tech manufacturing).
- Proven expertise in bid assessment (bid tabs, scope normalization, bid leveling) and delivery approaches (Cost Plus, GMP, Lump Sum, Unit-Rate/SOV, T&M).
- Proven change-order management experience, including rate validation, markup verification, exposure forecasting, and schedule/cost impact assessments.
- Practical experience with analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Snowflake, Python) and ERP/project management systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Procore).
Preferred Qualifications:- Advanced risk modeling experience (e.g., probabilistic/Monte Carlo, scenario modeling) applied to capex and construction risk evaluation.
- Proven track record of achieving significant savings and cost prevention through should-cost/clean-sheet approaches in semiconductor or controlled-environment facilities.
- Experience building global/regional benchmarking baselines and market intelligence for supplier competitiveness and sourcing strategy.
- Proven ability to standardize commercial tools, templates, and reporting frameworks to improve cost governance across large portfolios.
- Solid experience backing competitive negotiations using data-supported analytics, supplier knowledge, and full cost modeling.
The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$109,000.00 - $239,000.00 a year
Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
