SummaryThe Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities that support the Company's strategic growth objectives within the energy, engineering, and operations markets. Build and maintain strong customer relationships, develop sales strategies, support proposal development, and collaborate with operations, engineering, and project teams to deliver value-driven solutions.
Primary Duties- Create a broad network of industry contacts through various means, including phone calls, traveling to meet with clients, and hosting client visits.
- Build business relationships and professional network with vendors, legal firms, and financial entities supplying services to the generation industry.
- Identify new business opportunities through receiving and evaluating information regarding potential projects and provide recommendations for pursuit of same.
- Position the Company to negotiate or bid on Engineered Performance projects.
- Provide customer and competitive information and be integral in the proposal process.
- Provide support in business development and proposal activities as requested.
- Represent the Company's policies and strategies to potential clients.
- Identify business acquisition opportunities that may be of interest to the Company
Working RelationshipsThis person reports to Sales and Commercial VP. Does not have any direct reports.
Compensation The initial salary range is $137,500 to $158,100 based on experience and qualifications.
Job Qualifications:- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
- Years of Experience:
- Seven years of experience in a sales/marketing managerial role.
- Seven years of business development, sales, account, account management, or related experience within the energy, engineering, industrial, utility, or power generation industry.
- Experience preparing proposals, negotiating commercial terms, and managing customer accounts.
- Preferred Experience:
- Experience with engineering services, operations & maintenance (O&M), plant services, construction, capital projects, or technical service offerings.
- Leadership experience managing and developing others.
- International sales experience.
- Software/Equipment Knowledge: Thorough understanding and working knowledge of power generating technologies and fuels, including combustion turbines, fossil boilers, diesels, steam turbines, coal, oil, gas, wood waste and biomass.
- Other Considerations:
- Able to think and act strategically.
- High energy level, persistence, self-starter, and ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions- Office environment with frequent travel to customer locations.
- Hybrid or remote work may be available based on business needs.
- Automobile and commercial airline may range from 50-60% depending on assigned territory and business requirements.
Normal working hours are 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. Extended hours may be required based on specific requirements. Work is performed at an established home office environment or headquarters office, and on industrial sites that require protective clothing and equipment. Work at facilities can occur around industrial hazards, in areas of high noise levels, and around new construction. Physical mobility to transverse stairways, ladders, grating, and uneven terrain are essential. Ability to see, hear, read, and react to warning signs, lights, and alarms are essential.
