About the roleThe Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for implementing and supporting automation systems including PLC's, Machine Vision, Motion, and SCADA systems. The Senior Automation Engineer will partner with the plant floor leaders, engineering, quality, food safety, and the automation manager to support production equipment improvements, controls upgrades, and capital projects that help deliver plant performance.
Your responsibilities- Drive the development and execution of automation strategies aligned with IT and operational goals
- Provide technical leadership for the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of automation and control systems
- Oversee performance, maintenance, patching, and monitoring of Operational Technology (OT) systems and critical infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GAMP-5, 21 CFR Part 11, and FDA requirements, including audits and validation reviews
- Support full system lifecycle activities, including design, commissioning, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including URS, FRS, design specs, SOPs, and user procedures
- Lead testing and validation efforts such as FAT, SAT, commissioning, and Computerized System Validation (CSV)
- Collaborate with engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to enforce standards, improve processes, and deliver automation projects
The experience we're looking for- Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience) with strong foundational knowledge of industrial systems
- Demonstrated ability to apply root cause analysis to troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and controls issues
- Solid understanding of safety, environmental, and GMP requirements within a manufacturing environment
- Experience implementing and supporting computerized and validated systems in regulated (CSV) environments
- Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC5, SLC) and related control hardware
- Working knowledge of industrial hardware including VFDs, motion control/servo systems, HMIs, machine vision, and barcode systems
- Experience with automation software platforms such as Rockwell RSLogix, FactoryTalk (ME/SE), AssetCentre, ThinManager, and PlantPAX
- Familiarity with additional systems including GE iFIX/iBatch, OSI PI, Microsoft SQL, and Ignition for data, visualization, and control integration

Salary RangeUSD $95,000.00 - $143,000.00
Pay TransparencyThe base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law.
