Job Description

The Senior Area Manager, Retail Warehouse will be responsible for overseeing the operations of our retail distribution warehouse, including offsite locations. As the Senior Area Manager, Retail Warehouse you will lead teams, optimize inventory management, ensure the timely delivery of products to retail locations, and maintain the highest standards of safety and efficiency. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of warehouse logistics in a fast-paced retail environment. You will play a critical role in enhancing operational efficiency and contributing to the company's overall performance.

Essential Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage inventory levels across multiple locations to ensure stock accuracy, minimize loss, and prevent stockouts.
  • Optimize the use of warehouse space across all locations, ensuring efficient storage, layout, and organization to maximize capacity and streamline operations.
  • Implement systems for cycle counts, reconciliation, and audits at each warehouse site, while overseeing accurate record-keeping and inventory data reporting across locations.
  • Oversee budget preparation and management, ensuring financial goals are met while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Manage the performance of warehouse staff through training, coaching, mentoring, and regular feedback to ensure high levels of efficiency and job satisfaction.
  • Takes an active part in recruitment, retention of staff and succession planning.
  • Administer performance evaluations, address disciplinary issues, and resolve employee relations concerns.
  • Develop effective staffing schedules to meet business demands while controlling labor costs and maintaining required service levels.
  • Lead management and team meetings to promote a collaborative work environment, drive operations, and ensure consistent communication across all levels both within the department and across the company.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including retail management, Universal Orlando Partners and external partners, to align warehouse operations with overall business objectives and ensure timely distribution of goods to retail units and guests.
  • Oversee the safe handling, storage, and transportation of goods, ensuring compliance with company policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations related to food quality, safety, and labor laws.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by conducting safety training, audits, and partnering with the Environmental Health and Safety team to define, communicate, and track clear, measurable safety objectives that align with organizational goals and regularly review progress.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all warehouse equipment by working closely with the warehouse management team to ensure regular inspections are conducted.
  • Implement loss prevention measures to maintain inventory accuracy and reduce shrinkage, ensuring security and integrity of warehouse operations.
  • Review and analyze warehouse performance results daily while identifying and resolving opportunities with the warehouse management team.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with Senior Management regarding warehouse performance and challenges; Make recommendations for improvement when necessary.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements to ensure the warehouse operates efficiently and remains competitive.
  • Ensures that recognition is a daily part of the warehouse's culture.
  • Plan, oversee and manage special projects throughout the year.


Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in warehouse and distribution management.
  • Experience in managing large-scale warehouse operations, preferably in a Food and/or retail distribution environment.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to liaise with vendors, employees, and management at all levels.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and compliance regulations in warehouse environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to work rotating schedules, including holidays, weekends, and nights, as required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), warehouse management systems, and other relevant software.

Desired Characteristics:
  • A college degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to manage offsite locations, ensuring consistency in operations and performance standards.
  • Ability to manage large teams and ensure consistent performance in a 24/7 environment.


Additional Requirements:
    • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 (bonus eligible)
