Full Job Description
Location: Hershey, PA

Department: Finance

Summary of Role:

Develop, maintain, and continuously improve financial reporting models. Analyze data to provide actionable insights to the Commercial teams aimed at driving balanced sales and profit growth. Communicate business trends to influence future forecasts and financial performance.

Role Responsibilities:

US Commercial Business/Protein Commercial Business Financial Analysis
  • Build and maintain financial reporting tools for the Commercial organization, focused on Portfolio and Brand segments
  • Develop financial modeling on the bottom line impacts of the portfolio sales mix of business, analyzing the data to understand and communicate key drivers
  • Lead financial modeling of future project P&Ls, analyzing past P&L performance, and projecting financial implications, including new product launches, seasonal portfolio changes, and packtype renovations
  • Support various Brand teams via the IBM (Integrated Business Management) process by representing finance in monthly meetings with cross functional partners to drive decision making to improve P&L results
  • Support Annual Plan, Long-range Strategic Plan, and forecast updates through fact based analysis and development of Brand and Seasonal P&L forecasts and targets
  • Lead the financial analysis and recommendation of 'go/no go' for projects, to the Director - Commecial Finance and Sr. Mgr - Commecial Financial and Protein, that go to SSG and PSM forums to drive financial visibility to attain goals/hurdles


Support the Brand Team Financial Needs
  • Serve as a key Finance point of contact to varioius Brand teams to research P&L results, develop variance explanations versus forecasted projections, communicate insights, and support Brand team follow up questions
  • Assess drivers of margin variance and identify options for margin expansion
  • Research trends underlying P&L performance; develop processes which help influence Franchise P&L results and improve forecast accuracy
  • Promote enhanced financial acumen within the marketing organization through collaboration centered on business reviews, results interpretation, insight sharing, and action plans.


Build New Tools to Drive Insights and Efficiency
  • Serve as a lead for developing best-in-class commercial finance tools and analytical approaches (e.g., Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau) that integrate multiple data sources to provide a full picture of top and bottom-line impacts to business choices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional parnters to optimize funcitonality and effectiveness, and lead finance cross-training and best practice sharing


Special Projects
  • Provide support to the US Commercial and Protein organization and lead special projects and ad hoc analysis requests.


Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Strong analytical skills and business / financial acumen
  • Strong technical skills (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint / Thinkcell, Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx), with proven ability to synthesize data to develop insights and strategic recommendations
  • Ability to analyze business processes, identify areas for improvement, and execute process improvement recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to develop PowerPoint slide deck materials, along with presenting findings and recommendations
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/areas of responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to produce accurate results in a fast paced constantly changing environment
  • Strong attention to detail


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Education -
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance or business-related field required, MBA or equivalent marketplace experience preferred
  • Experience -
    • At least 3-5 years work experience in an analytical and/or strategic capacity. CPG and/or other consumer-facing products experience preferred; Experience developing strategic and data-driven recommendations; Comfortable working with a wide variety of data
