Job Title: Sr. AI/ML Engineer
Location: On-site in Glen Allen, VA

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Sr. AI/ML Engineer to join Richmond National Insurance Company. As a AI/ML Engineer you will work closely with the Director of Data & Innovation overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of our data products by ensuring their availability, reliability, and scalability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, data engineers, business analysts, and software engineers, to develop innovative data solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Data Science Infrastructure: Contribute to building and maintaining robust and scalable cloud data science infrastructure, including MLOps, building machine learning pipelines to support training, validation and monitoring of models.
  • Model Development: Develop custom ML models, deep learning models, algorithms, and fine tune foundational models.
  • Performance Optimization: Implement processes and tools to monitor the performance and accuracy of models trained.
  • Data Security: Collaborate with the data and IT leadership team to implement data privacy and security measures, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the organization's needs and deliver business solutions, leveraging company data to support their requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, algorithms, and best practices in data science. Proactively introduce new tools and techniques to improve processes and efficiency while developing and maintaining the models.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of ML/AI pipelines, workflows, and algorithms, ensuring clear documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Qualifications:
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Data Engineer or similar role, preferably in the insurance or financial industry or a similar domain, with at least 3 years as a Data Scientist.
  • Strong experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, and artificial intelligence.
  • Strong data analytical skills using SQL, Python, Excel etc.
  • Experience in using Language Models, NLP models, Vision Language Models for various text understanding and document understanding use cases.
  • Good understanding of data modeling, ETL development, and data integration techniques.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and experience with SQL and database technologies.
  • Experience in AWS ML/AI services and tools such as Sagemaker, Bedrock.
  • Strong experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.


Compensation:

At the time of posting, the expected base salary range for this role is $120,000-$130,000 annually. Additionally, this position is eligible for participation in our annual bonus program. Actual compensation will be determined by many factors, including but not limited to, location, education, certifications, qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, business need, and any applicable minimum wage requirements.
