Hours: Full time - 8a-3p, M-F 35 hrs. per wk.
Pay: $40.87-$45.89/hr.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and consultative speech-language therapy services to students with communication and oral motor disorders in accordance with applicable regulations and standards, including DDD, ASHA, HIPAA, NJ DOE, and organizational policies, as well as each student27s IEP, IPP, and behavior plan.
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to assess communication and oral motor needs, including determining the need for therapeutic intervention, level of functioning, and overall performance.
- Collaborate with audiologists and other professionals to review records, interpret audiological data, and develop appropriate therapy recommendations and service delivery plans.
- Perform ongoing reassessments to monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans based on identified areas of need.
- Assist in the development of measurable, achievable, and educationally relevant goals related to communication and oral motor skills.
- Deliver individual, group, and integrated therapy sessions, while also providing consultation and support to families, caregivers, educators, and staff.
- Partner with faculty to design and implement classroom strategies that support student learning and align with individual communication needs; may assist with classroom instruction as appropriate.
- Promote student independence and skill development by supporting goal achievement and encouraging functional communication within each student27s abilities.
- Plan and schedule therapy sessions in alignment with student needs and school district requirements.
- Recommend and support the use of assistive and augmentative communication devices, classroom accommodations, and environmental modifications to enhance student access and participation.
- Identify barriers to learning and provide actionable recommendations to improve student engagement and support the carryover of therapeutic goals across settings.
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology with a National Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
- N.J. State Department of Education Certification as Speech Language Therapist required.
- Prior work experience as Speech Language Specialist in Special Education, and Augmentative Communication Devices and Assistive Technology required. Certificate in Assistive Technology a plus
