Full Job Description
Crouse's Physical Rehabilitation Services Department is hiring a Speech Language Pathologist. The Speech Language Pathologist works in accordance with the practice act for New York State, which includes the evaluation and treatment or the prevention of disability, injury and disease in an acute care, medical center and also in varied outpatient settings.

Responsible for planning, supervising, and carrying out speech therapy treatment programs, which may also include working with the medical imaging department to schedule and assist with modified barium swallows. Actively participates in and supports department quality assurance programs, education and customer service programs. Works as part of the health care team across department lines and performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $50.00 - $56.60 / hour

Schedule: 7:00am - 3:30pm with rotating holidays and weekends.

Speech Language Pathologist Responsibilities:
  • Professionally evaluates patients with a variety of problems and demonstrates understanding of growth and development from birth to geriatrics.
  • Competently establishes treatment programs which meet the functional needs of the patient and caregivers and in keeping with the age and social needs of the patient and caregivers.
  • Sets goals that are reasonable to achieve, meet the needs and are understood by the patient and caregivers using the same tools that would be available if the patient were at home.
  • Proficiently treats patients that have been evaluated.
  • Provides accurate notes and documentation as required.
  • Consistently uses safe treatment techniques to avoid injury to the patient and staff.
  • Understands what to do if an injury does take place.
  • Ensures that patient/caregivers have the necessary information, equipment, and services in place for discharge.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by department leadership

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Currently licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist in New York State.
  • Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at the time of hire or within two (2) weeks after hire.
  • Maintains an up-to-date Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.
