Overview

VytlOne is currently seeking an experienced Specialty Pharmacist to join our rapidly growing Specialty Pharmacy in Lubbock, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for a Pharmacist to make a positive impact in the lives of the patients we care for, with a devoted pharmacy operations team.

 

Job Summary

The Specialty Pharmacist is responsible for patient care related to the dispensing of specialty medications. medications, fluids ordered by a prescriber as well as to provide patient education and ongoing clinical evaluation with relation to specialty medications and disease state management and to verify and assist physicians with medication selection, dosage calculations as well as maintaining accurate dispensing records and patient records for each patient that is cared for by the pharmacy.  This position carries the responsibility to ensure accurate and quality pharmacy and customer service is provided in a professional manner in accordance with current federal, state, local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

  

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (These duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. This document in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position):

1. Interpret and verify physician orders entered in to the software system by certified pharmacy technicians.2. Ensure the completion prescription verification as well as order verification before the end of each business day.3. Ensure the accuracy of all packaging, delivery and/or shipping of medications, supplies and teaching materials to the patient’s home according to the guidelines established by Maxor Specialty.4. Ensure the quality control/storage of the medications prepared within the pharmacy for patient use.5. Communicate pertinent information to all applicable physicians, providers, customer service, authorizations and marketing in order to keep them informed of current patient orders and/or changes in the patient’s care, if required6. Contact and confer with physicians regarding questions or irregularities on prescriptions.7. Perform and document clinical monitoring.8. Assist in managing and maintaining complete and accurate patient records and operating records.9. Assist in managing referrals and help to troubleshoot case management when needed.10. Maintain direct and ongoing communication with the patient, patient’s caregiver(s) and other applicable professionals involved in any aspect of the patient care if applicable.11. Supervise certified pharmacy technicians in all routine performance of their daily duties.12. Provide and over see the accuracy of all patient education, information, counseling, and pharmacy care furnished to Maxor Specialty patients. .13. Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.14. Assist in maintaining operating efficiencies within the department.15. Have a good understanding and working knowledge of all VytlOne Specialty's policies and procedures, accreditation requirements and HIPAA operational guidelines.16. Maintain inventory and records of controlled drugs and other drugs as required by law or VytlOne.17. Participate in all inventory control programs such as ordering, inventory, stocking, pricing, quantities and monitoring of usage as required by Maxor.18. Attend and participate in programs, committees, meetings, and other functions as required by the facility or pharmacy.19. Participate in pharmacy orientation programs, staff meetings and other in-services or educational curriculums.20. Participate in and/or develop activities necessary to resolve any unsafe and/or unsanitary practices.21. Exemplify excellence in customer communications and service.22. Assist in compiling necessary reports and/or audit information as requested.23. Work cooperatively with other staff members to promote a positive and team oriented work environment.24. Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.25. Maintain current knowledge of drug therapies, drug reactions, and interactions by reading professional literature, attending seminars and utilizing professional affiliations.26. Maintain regular attendance in accordance with established policies.27. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Experience: One year pharmacy experience preferred.

 

Education: Bachelor's of Pharmacy or PharmD degree from an accredited pharmacy program.  State pharmacy license in good standing.
