Full Job Description
The BYO Training Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of training program activities required for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of all BYO operating units. This role supports workforce leadership development, regulatory compliance, and skill enhancement training, ensuring all training is documented per company standards.

A Day in the Life

  • Lead the development, implementation, and delivery of training programs based on operational, regulatory, and business needs.
  • Champions the training process, develops training content, and delivers training as appropriate.
  • Manage training curricula, LMS content, materials, and training manuals for assigned areas.
  • Ensure training compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards, including effective recordkeeping and tracking.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and gaps through assessments, KPIs, and feedback, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate technician certification and re-certification efforts.
  • Work with outside vendors on larger training projects as needed.
  • Collaborate and share courses with other training personnel and US Manufacturing Training (GTLS) for new hire training.
  • Partner with other LYB training departments to build relationships with counterparts
  • Communicate changes to the training process with plant personnel.
  • Lead and direct contractor and/or LYB training support staff.


You Bring This Value

  • Associate's degree in field(s) related to manufacturing plant operations such as process technology, maintenance technology and/or applied sciences.
  • At least 5 years of plant operations experience in petrochemical manufacturing or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a training role or equivalent (leadership, education, program development, project administration, etc.).
  • Strong customer focus, urgency, and ability to build trust and relationships.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and results orientation.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to relate to and work with people from all applicable disciplines.
  • Good knowledge of plant operating procedures, maintenance, safety, process safety management, and ISO 9000 standards (where applicable).
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite and digital learning platforms.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in instructional systems design and training delivery techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership in overseeing a team and managing individual performance.
  • Demonstrated capacity to utilize instructional design and adult learning principles.
