Executive Protection Specialist serves as an important part of the Corporate Security team by helping protect senior leadership, management, and other designated individuals while supporting a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across the health system. This role combines executive protection expertise, advanced driving skills, vigilance, professionalism, discretion, and compassionate customer service to protect people, property, and the operations of the health system. The Executive Protection Specialist is responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation, conducting advance security assessments, identifying and mitigating potential threats, supporting special events and physical security operations, maintaining relationships with law enforcement partners, responding to emergencies, and supporting crisis de-escalation efforts. Strong communication, sound judgment, integrity, confidentiality, physical readiness, and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-profile situations are critical to success in this position.

As an Executive Protection Specialist, a typical day might include the following:

Transporting senior executives, leadership, and approved passengers safely and efficiently to and from corporate facilities, affiliate facilities, special events, and designated local or outlying locations

Planning secure travel routes, monitoring changing conditions, identifying potential hazards, and implementing alternate or diversion routes when necessary

Conducting pre-trip and advance security assessments of venues and locations that will be visited by Corporate Executives and senior leadership

Providing protective coverage and responding to potential hazardous or life-threatening situations by safely moving executives and passengers away from harm

Establishing and maintaining emergency identification codes to discreetly communicate potential danger and signal the need to evacuate or shelter in place

Conducting indoor and outdoor security patrols and monitoring facilities to help maintain a safe and secure environment for healthcare operations

Supporting special event security, physical security activities, access control, and other Corporate Security responsibilities as needed

Maintaining effective working relationships and serving as a liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies

Responding to emergencies involving executives and participating in crisis intervention and de-escalation using certified training techniques

Maintaining executive protection vehicles, including monitoring vehicle appearance, operational readiness, mileage, scheduling, maintenance, and service requirements

Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding executive and family contact information, residence locations, residential security systems, schedules, travel plans, and other sensitive information

Completing incident reports, data entry, and other administrative tasks using computer systems and Microsoft Office

Maintaining compliance with all applicable federal and New Jersey laws, regulations, firearms requirements, licensing standards, and company policies

The Executive Protection Specialist role might be for you if:

You demonstrate strong judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills when balancing executive requests with other security responsibilities

You are physically fit and able to perform the demanding aspects of executive protection, including emergency response, defensive driving, and safely moving or assisting an individual during an emergency

You are comfortable responding to emergencies and using certified crisis de-escalation, CPR, AED, and first aid techniques when necessary

You are highly organized and comfortable with computer systems, data entry, incident reporting, Microsoft Office, and vehicle documentation

You are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, compassion, confidentiality, and service

You are willing and able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments and meet the physical and operational demands of an armed executive protection position

This is a Full Time position.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of five years of prior law enforcement experience or military service, with ten years of combined experience in law enforcement, military service, or professional executive protection. You must have a valid New Jersey Driver's License and be eligible to be covered by the organization's insurance carrier. Applicants with an out-of-state driver's license must transfer their driver's license and vehicle registration to New Jersey within 60 days of hire.

You must possess a valid Retired Police Officer permit to carry a firearm/handgun in accordance with the New Jersey Retired Law Enforcement Permit to Carry a Handgun Law and Retired Law Enforcement Officer Program (RPO), a valid New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) Level 2 Armed Security Officer License, and a valid New Jersey Permit to Carry a Handgun. You must also possess a Level Three Retention Holster for your approved handgun and use the approved holster while working. All firearms qualifications and requalifications must be maintained in accordance with applicable New Jersey standards and organizational requirements.

You must be able to obtain certification in de-escalation training within 90 days of hire and maintain required CPR, AED, and first aid certifications. Experience in customer service or security, prior military service, keyboarding, data entry, Microsoft Office, and strong verbal and written communication skills is preferred. Bilingual or multilingual language skills are a plus, depending on facility needs.
