Role Overview

The Engineering Parts Handling Expert is responsible for the global coordination, tracking, and availability of engineering and spare parts across all required locations worldwide. This role manages a complex portfolio of 4,000+ part numbers and acts as the single point of contact (SPOC) for all engineering parts handling within Scout Motors, ensuring parts readiness to support prototype builds, validation activities, and fleet operations.

What you'll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

Global Parts Availability & Distribution
  • Ensure availability of engineering spare parts across all global locations (build sites, test locations, proving grounds)
  • Define and manage distribution strategies to position parts proactively based on program and test needs
  • Monitor demand vs. supply and take proactive actions to avoid shortages

Parts Portfolio Ownership (4,000+ Part Numbers)
  • Own and manage a large engineering parts portfolio (>4,000 active part numbers)
  • Maintain full visibility of part status including revisions, maturity, and availability
  • Ensure traceability and correct allocation of parts across programs and locations

Inventory & Stock Management
  • Define and maintain optimal stock levels for engineering spare parts globally
  • Oversee inventory accuracy across all storage locations (warehouses, build shops, remote sites)
  • Implement structured inventory processes tailored to prototype and low-volume environments

Material Flow & Logistics Coordination
  • Coordinate global movement of engineering parts between suppliers, warehouses, and usage locations
  • Manage urgent shipments to support build events, testing, and issue resolution
  • Work closely with logistics partners to ensure reliable and timely delivery worldwide

Build & Test Support
  • Ensure parts readiness for prototype builds, fleet operations, and validation campaigns
  • Rapidly resolve part shortages, incorrect deliveries, or quality issues
  • Support critical test activities by ensuring spare parts availability on-site

Systems & Data Management
  • Maintain and continuously improve part tracking systems (ERP/PLM/inventory tools)
  • Ensure accurate data for part numbers, revisions, usage, and stock levels
  • Provide transparent reporting on part availability, shortages, and risks

Single Point of Contact (SPOC)
  • Act as the central interface for all engineering parts handling topics across Scout Motors
  • Support Engineering, V&V, Prototype Builds, Fleet Operations, and Procurement teams
  • Drive alignment, prioritization, and issue resolution across functions

Process Ownership & Improvement
  • Establish scalable processes for engineering parts handling in a prototype/pre-series environment
  • Standardize workflows for global parts distribution and inventory control
  • Capture lessons learned and implement continuous improvements toward production readiness.

Location & Travel Expectations:
  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering parts handling, prototype logistics, or material management
  • Proven experience managing large part volumes (multi-thousand part numbers)
  • Experience in global parts distribution and logistics coordination
  • Strong understanding of automotive development processes (prototype, validation, pre-series)

Preferred
  • Experience with ERP / PLM systems (e.g., SAP, Teamcenter, Windchill)
  • Experience in EV or advanced vehicle programs
  • Background in prototype builds or V&V environments

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $110,000.00 - $135,000.00
