Position Overview:

The Specialist, EH&S Business Engagement & Training serves as a key liaison between the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) function and business teams across the organization, helping translate enterprise EH&S objectives into practical, engaging, and effective programs. Working with limited supervision, this role partners closely with operations leaders, on-site operations teams, and employees to drive awareness, understanding, and adoption of EH&S initiatives that strengthen compliance, reduce risk, and support a positive safety culture within the company. The Specialist builds trusted relationships across the business to understand operational needs, gather feedback, and help ensure EH&S programs align with day-to-day business priorities.

A primary focus of the role is the development, coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement of EH&S training, communications, and engagement programs. The Specialist drives the creation of learning content, awareness campaigns, and employee-facing resources that promote safe work practices and strengthen employee participation in EH&S initiatives. The role also leads and supports program implementations, process improvements, while leveraging stakeholder feedback, performance metrics, and operational insights to improve program effectiveness and employee experience.

Job Responsibilities
  • Partner with business leaders, site leadership, and operational teams to promote adoption of EH&S programs, strengthen employee engagement, and foster a positive safety culture
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver EH&S training, educational materials, communications, and awareness campaigns that enhance employee knowledge, regulatory compliance, and safe work practices
  • Assess training effectiveness and program engagement through feedback, participation metrics, and operational performance data; recommend and implement improvements to increase impact and business value
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of enterprise EH&S programs, policies, standards, and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify EH&S risks, emerging trends, and training needs, and support the development of practical solutions that improve employee safety and organizational performance
  • Support program adoption efforts by developing communication, engagement, and training strategies that help employees and leaders successfully implement EH&S initiatives


Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent and requires 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related discipline preferred


Specialized Knowledge / Skills
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general industry safety requirements, including:
    • Hazard Communication (HazCom)
    • Powered Industrial Truck (forklift) safety
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    • Walking-working surfaces and fall prevention
    • Injury and illness recordkeeping
  • Knowledge of distribution center and logistics safety practices, including:
    • Material handling and ergonomics
    • Dock and pedestrian safety
    • Contractor safety
    • Injury prevention and risk reduction
  • Knowledge of EH&S program management principles, including:
    • Hazard identification and risk assessment
    • Incident investigation and corrective actions
    • Safety culture and employee engagement
    • Continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience developing and delivering employee training, communications, awareness campaigns, and engagement programs
  • Familiarity with EH&S management systems and technology platforms (e.g., Intelex) and the use of data analytics to measure program effectiveness
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, communication, and change management skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply EH&S regulations, standards, and company policies across a multi-site operational environment
