The Department of Surgery, Division of General and Minimally Invasive Surgery, in the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking an academic Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) for the full-time faculty position of Specialist to join the clinical service, composed of surgeons and advanced practice providers. The successful candidate will have an interest in all aspects of both outpatient and inpatient care as well as knowledge of case management. Qualified individuals will have completed an approved advanced graduate nurse or physician assistant program and must be licensed in Texas.

This position serves as a pivotal team member in our UT Health San Antonio and University Health System outpatient clinics. This individual will conduct a comprehensive assessment of surgical patients throughout the continuum of care in the ambulatory settings. This Advance Practice Provider position also includes evaluations of new patients, follow-up patients, post-operative and post-procedure patients, and hospital follow-up continuity of care clinic. This individual will be available to cover additional clinics, as assigned by the Division Chief, and other designated clinics for patient access and coverage. The division currently has 7 surgical faculty and 4 advanced practice providers and will assist the service in its growth by creating and fostering important relationships with other services, as well as participating in training UT Health San Antonio residents and medical students.
