Location: Grand Rapids, MIThe Role: Special Projects Construction ManagerAs a Special Projects Construction Manager, you will lead retrofit, upgrade, and expansion projects within operating data centers. You are accountable for safety, schedule, budget, and construction quality. This role requires close coordination with Operations to protect live environments while delivering construction outcomes. Your work directly impacts facility reliability, customer uptime, and infrastructure performance.
What You'll Do- Lead special construction projects from planning through closeout.
- Develop project schedules, cost plans, and execution strategies.
- Oversee contractor and subcontractor safety performance and enforce site standards.
- Conduct regular site walks and include safety metrics in project reporting.
- Supervise on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with Operations to schedule work during approved maintenance windows.
- Ensure all work follows approved MOPs and SOPs.
- Identify risks early and implement mitigation plans.
- Review and approve contractor invoices, change orders, and cost documentation.
- Provide clear updates to leadership on milestones, risks, cost status, and schedule performance.
- Oversee installation and commissioning of electrical, mechanical, and network infrastructure.

What You'll BringRequired - 5+ years of experience in data center construction management or mission-critical operations.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and IT infrastructure systems.
- Advanced understanding of construction management processes and methods.
- Experience managing contractors in active construction or retrofit environments.
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, and change orders.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights or weekends, based on project needs.
- Ability to work on-site and follow required safety protocols, including use of PPE.
Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience using Procore or similar construction management software.
- Working knowledge of CAD or 3D modeling tools.
