Work Schedule:

Onsite – Buffalo, NY

Our team in Space and Defense Group is looking for a Performance Leader to join them. You will report to the Process Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY.

As a Performance Leader, you will take daily operational ownership of one or more teams in our Machine Shop. You’ll lead a team of 15-20 machinists while driving performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. This role also plays a critical part in shaping team capability through workforce planning, hiring, training, development, and continuous improvement.

Performance Leaders are essential to the success of our manufacturing operations. You’ll ensure our production teams are equipped to meet today’s customer commitments and prepared for tomorrow’s challenges. You’ll work closely with site support functions and the Value Stream organization to keep processes aligned with site strategy and operational objectives.

To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline with 2 years’ machine shop experience OR Associates degree with 4 years’ machine shop experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years’ direct management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

As a Production Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise and manage a team of 15–20 employees in a machine shop setting.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Manager to develop and implement improvement plans (Value Stream or Production Improvement Plans) to achieve high-impact results.
  • Define, track, and measure short- and long-term team goals aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Use established standard work and production documentation to optimize personnel and equipment utilization, workflow, and cost efficiency.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and develop team members; manage performance and succession/growth opportunities.
  • Proactively address and resolve employee relations issues; administer counseling, discipline, and performance feedback fairly and consistently.
  • Ensure accurate employee time reporting and consistent application of personnel policies.
  • Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Experience with lean/manufacturing/process improvement tools (preferred).
  • Effective communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Ability to analyze production metrics and drive corrective actions.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $75,000.00 60,000.00 Hourly
