Full Job Description
The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Solution Architect to join our Diagnostics R&D Instrumentation team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills, hands-on experience and a strategic architecture mindset and a proven track record of transforming complex scientific demands into scalable, production-grade software and data ecosystems.

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge science and enterprise engineering - breaking down data silos, optimizing high-throughput AI/ML pipelines, and championing FAIR data principles across our global research environment.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Solution Design: architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective hybrid-cloud solutions tailored to complex scientific business needs, that consolidate fragmented R&D silos into machine-ready "Data Product" ecosystems with automated data lineage.

  • Technical Leadership: guide development teams in cloud-native application implementation, system migration, and advanced pipeline re-engineering.

  • Data Strategy & FAIR Principles: design conceptual/logical data models and FAIR-compliant APIs to ensure experimental and formulation data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.

  • Ensure Quality: define non-functional requirements and review implementations to identify gaps between design and code. Establish comprehensive observability standards to maintain the health and performance of distributed systems.

  • Technology Evangelism: educate teams on architecture best practices, enterprise frameworks, and emerging technologies

  • Stakeholder Management: partner with business stakeholders and scientists to gather and document detailed requirements and manage this input in the product backlog.

  • Experimentation: Drive the prototyping phase, connecting all stakeholders and key actors to provide a proof of concept.

  • Cross-functional: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business, product management, and development, to ensure alignment and successful integration

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis, or a related study

  • 7+ years of relevant experience (software development, cloud, integration, architecture design), or similar experience.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in the following areas/technologies:

    • AI/ML Workflows & Orchestration: high-throughput pipeline development, specifically utilizing Nextflow orchestration and containerization.

    • Cloud computing (e.g., AWS)

    • High-Throughput Pipelines

    • Observability (e.g. Icinga, Grafana, Prometheus)

    • Event-Driven Architecture and Data Mesh

  • 3+ proven experience with Diagnostics solutions or life sciences research environments, or similar background:

    • Digital Pathology architecture, integrations within complex scientific data ecosystems.

    • Applying AI/LLMs to improve Diagnostics workflows and business processes.

  • Experience working in agile teams and bridging the "requirements gap" between scientific demand and engineering output.

  • Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to challenge status-quo data silos and influence cross-functional leadership.

  • Strong logical, analytical, and problem-resolution skills tailored to highly complex, GxP-compliant research environments.
