A Solution Architect is an individual with deep expertise in one or more IT domains such as Application Design, Data Design, Technology/Infrastructure and / or Security. In this role, you will be part of the enterprise architecture team responsible for converting business and organizational objectives into technology solutions.
As part of the team, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between business challenges and technology solutions, ensuring that the systems and software implemented are:
- Cost Efficient: Drive the selection of scalable and appropriate solutions to help avoid unnecessary expenses and future rework.
- Future-Proofing: Design and Solution systems that are adaptable to future changes, ensuring long-term value for the organization.
- Improve Project Outcomes: Own the holistic view of the solution to help avoid common pitfalls, leading to more successful project deliveries.
- Enhancing Security and Compliance: Incorporate security and compliance considerations into our design and reduce vulnerabilities and ensuring adherence to industry regulations.
You will keep current with the organization's technology inventory assets, identifying opportunities for adaptation and reuse, researching market trends, and making informed decisions regarding whether to build, buy, or repurpose existing solutions.
What You'll be Doing:- Analyze business requirements, translate them into technical solutions and select appropriate technologies and platforms.
- Design solution architecture, including software, hardware, and networking components.
- Guide development teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring best practices and standards are followed.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet both technical and business expectations.
- Promote and support Peer Review of team deliverables, contributing to the development of consistent and effective documentation that adheres to team standards and templates.
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Proactively share knowledge with members of IS to help them adopt standards and best practices.
- Develop Proof of Concept (PoC) to demonstrates the feasibility of a proposed product, method, or ideas.
What you Bring:Experience and Education:- 10+ years of continuous IT experiences.
- A minimum of five years of experience serving as an architect within a specific IT architecture domain.
- Led diverse projects addressing various business and IT challenges, consistently demonstrating strong facilitation and collaboration skills.
- Modeling experience using common solution description languages, standards, tools and visual aids.
- Formal IT methodology practitioner and project management methodology participant.
- Proven track record of designing complex solutions on a variety of platforms, followed through to implementation and operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in architecture best practices, architecture development methodologies, various domain-specific modeling techniques, and solution documantation. Experience with the TOGAF standard would be considered an asset.
- Software application development experiences with different SDLC approaches following agile or waterfall and versed in specification level writing.
- Demonstrated experience in systems integration within a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment, utilizing an Enterprise Service Bus and API-based messaging standards, with both Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions and custom applications.
- Must be able to use Code Repository such as GitHub, TFS or Azure DevOps.
- Must be able to work within an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Must be able to work in Test Driven Development environment.
Communication and Team Effectiveness- Able to work on multiple competing projects, manage own time and schedule within overall project plan, can effectively control scope of own work to deliver before due dates.
- Timely communication, escalates own issues and potential team issues appropriately.
Licenses and Certifications:- University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline.
- TOGAF certification or functional proficiency with similar methodology or framework is a requirement.
Experience in these technology areas would be regarded as a valued asset.
