Overviewi3 is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Product Owner (PO) to join the Malet JSIL Aircrew Trainer (MJAT) Project Office in support of U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) RPA training, as well as other RPA-related software development and integration activities. The Software Product Owner will work closely with software developers, systems engineers, testers, program leadership, and mission stakeholders to define, prioritize, and deliver software capabilities that support evolving operational and training requirements.
This position requires an individual who can effectively translate customer and mission needs into actionable software requirements, user stories, and product priorities while supporting Agile development and software release activities. This position is expected to be performed fully onsite in Huntsville, AL.
Responsibilities- Own and manage the MJAT software product backlog, including features, capabilities, user stories, defects, and technical priorities.
- Translate operational needs, customer requirements, system requirements, and program objectives into clear and actionable software features and user stories.
- Serve as a liaison between program management, software development, system engineers, software test, customers/stakeholders, third party agencies, and other JSIL teams.
- Review/understand Systems Engineering concepts/designs and provide guidance to the development team.
- Support Agile/SCRUM activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Work closely with software and systems engineers to plan, coordinate, and prioritize software development and integration activities.
- Coordinate software release planning and help establish release objectives, priorities, schedules, and acceptance criteria.
- Monitor development progress and maintain all software information, requirements, defects, and work items using Azure DevOps, GitLab, or similar development tools.
- Evaluate software deficiencies, enhancement requests, and system issues and determine appropriate release priorities and disposition in coordination with engineering and program leadership.
- Must be able to draft/review software release documentation for Change Control Board (Software Version Descriptions, Test Reports, Release Notes, Pre-Fielding Briefs, CCB slides) for configuration management and versioning.
- Develop and deliver software roadmaps, release plans, and status reports, presentations, and other program artifacts for program management and technical stakeholders.
- Analyze customer feedback, software performance, test results, and development progress to identify opportunities for product improvement.
Qualifications- Bachelor of Science degree (or advanced degree) from an accredited college (ABET preferred) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or the hard sciences
- Additional technical experience can be substituted in lieu of degree
- 5+ years of professional experience
- Experience creating and managing software releases
- Extensive experience with scheduling using MS Project
- Familiarity with the Azure DevOps or GitLab
- Strong customer facing background
- Position Location: In office in Huntsville, AL
- CONUS Travel required: Less than 10%
- Active Secret Clearance and the ability to maintain a Clearance
- Must be a U.S. Citizen

- Experience managing multiple software development and release cycles.

- Experience managing CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
- Security+ certification and Linux experience is also desired.
