OverviewDecisionPoint seeks a Software Product Management Lead to drive product vision, roadmap development, user story definition, and stakeholder engagement for a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role leads the end-to-end product lifecycle, aligning user needs, mission objectives, and technical capabilities into a cohesive and actionable product strategy.
The Software Product Management Lead partners with engineering teams, UX specialists, PMO leadership, and mission stakeholders to prioritize features, refine requirements, manage backlogs, and ensure product releases deliver measurable value.
This position is fully remote.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Software Product Management Lead will:
- Define and maintain the product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with mission and user needs.
- Lead backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and user story refinement.
- Develop clear, actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and feature descriptions.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and requirement-gathering sessions.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between engineering, UX, QA, security, and operations teams.
- Manage product lifecycles from concept through delivery and iterative improvement.
- Analyze user feedback, operational metrics, and mission needs to adjust product priorities.
- Ensure product decisions are data-driven and aligned with enterprise objectives.
- Support release planning, roadmap presentations, and executive-level product briefings.
- Maintain product documentation, decision logs, and feature tracking artifacts.
- Promote Agile best practices and continuous improvement across product teams.
Qualifications
Clearance Requirement
Must hold an active Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 3 background investigation.
Education (Required)
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience (Required)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in product management, software development leadership, or Agile delivery roles.
- Experience defining product strategy, roadmaps, and user-focused features.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies and leading cross-functional teams.
- Experience collaborating with technical teams to translate user needs into actionable stories.
- Experience supporting product management in federal or enterprise environments preferred.
Technical Knowledge (Required)
- Strong understanding of Agile product delivery, backlog management, and sprint planning.
- Knowledge of software development processes, technical requirements, and system dependencies.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and their alignment with product operations.
- Understanding of user experience considerations and mission-driven feature prioritization.
Technical Knowledge (Preferred)
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with data-driven decision-making frameworks for product prioritization.
Certifications
Required:
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
Preferred:
- PMP or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
- Additional product management or Agile leadership certifications
