Full Job Description
SAIC is seeking an experienced Software Integration Engineer to join our team in support of our United States Air Force customer in San Diego, California. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of tools and processes to ensure the maximum availability, stability and health of the program's complex systems and resources by ensuring that all project requirements are thoroughly understood, documented, and effectively communicated throughout System Integration Lifecycle. In parallel and because of the development and implementation of tools and processes, the Integration engineer will perform system monitoring and remediation of issues to ensure uptime requirements are met for the critical systems. The candidate shall be capable of supporting design, development, and/or integration efforts creating or integrating a new Hybrid Container/Virtualization Platform as a Service (HCVP) solution. Contractor support shall support all facets of the systems integration of the JFN baseline including: systems engineering, cybersecurity, hardware and software, exploitation, and Battlespace Management and Command and Control (BMC2) capabilities across all warfare domains. Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the maximum availability, stability and health of required program resources below to support operations, experimentation, development and testing.
  • JFN: MLS operational architecture including nodes, hub, network, software baseline and CI/CD apparatus (e.g. IL-5 up to IL-7 Cloud).
  • Develop and maintain automated reporting mechanism using commercial or customer dashboards for reporting overall system health and status.
  • Provide software sustainment leveraging software configuration management controls and processes.
  • Establish and improve existing engineering processes and tools to provide system status by leveraging Platform/Applications/Data monitoring tools.
  • Contribute to the design and development of automating the daily verification and validation of key functional capabilities.
  • Support the automation of configuration management and the visibility into the status of CM across various environments.
  • Implement and promote systems engineering principles to ensure program success.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability of the systems
  • Establish a Standard Operations Procedure (SOP) to leverage CI/CD pipelines and Automated Testing Tools to audit, verify, update, patch and manage Systems
  • Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and advancements in automated testing, distributed databases, software defined networking, container orchestration, and DevSecOps.
  • Identify, investigate and document system deficiencies to support Technical Operations.
  • Design, develop, integrate, and deploy a Hybrid Container/Virtualization Platform as a Service (HCVP) solution to support enterprise-scale hosting of containerized and virtualized workloads across multiple environments and enclaves on-prem and in the cloud.
  • Integrate core platform services including identity/SSO, PKI, DNS, logging/SIEM, monitoring, secrets management, container registry, and artifact repositories into the HCVP offering.
  • Implementation of a hybrid cloud architecture for components of the HCVP.
  • Collaborate with platform architects, security engineers, and application teams to onboard vendor and mission software onto the HCVP, ensuring compatibility, scalability, and compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Partner with helpdesk, platform engineers, network engineers, site reliability engineers to promote best practices in escalation and incident response during incidents, troubleshooting efforts, and drive root cause analysis.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to support Authority to Operate (ATO) efforts, vulnerability remediation, and continuous compliance monitoring
  • Configure and tune container runtimes, CNI/CSI plugins, ingress controllers, service meshes, and cluster networking to meet performance, availability, and security requirements
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) automation to support repeatable, auditable platform deployments
  • Support GPU-enabled workload integration, including driver configuration, device plugins, and scheduling for AI/ML computing use cases.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional stakeholders on containerization, virtualization, and cloud-native best practices
Qualifications TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience. Years of experience can be substituted in lieu of degree. • Experience with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). • Experience with virtualization: VMware, vSphere, and Microsoft Hyper-V, Linux KVM. • Experience with Kubernetes distros (e.g., RKE2, EKS, K8s) • Experience with on-prem and cloud similarities and differences. • Experience in automation tools and techniques, including configuration management and system validation. • Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk) • Experience with DevSecOps practices such as continuous integration and development tools (e.g. ArgoCD, GitLab Runners, Jenkins) • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Terraform). • Knowledge of application integration testing and automated testing frameworks. • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with application providers. • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with experience in reporting project status to leadership. • Familiarity with modern IT frameworks and methodologies (e.g., Agile, ITIL). • Understanding of business and technical alignment to achieve organizational goals. • U.S. Citizenship and an active Top Secret clearance. • IAT Level II certification. Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
