Full Job Description
Casey's currently has an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking technology professional to lead our Store Engineering Team as a Software Engineering Manager. This team is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of several custom and commercial software solutions focused on supporting Casey's store technology. The ideal candidate will have experience as a lead or managing engineer, preferably with domain expertise in the retail industry.

The Software Engineering Manager oversees the development and support of both custom-built and third-party technical solutions that align with Casey's business objectives. This role leads a team of engineers and analysts who value automation, reusability, scalability, and security-leveraging agile/iterative development frameworks and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a high-performing team of professionals on major initiatives. Responsibilities include hiring, training, salary administration, performance management, and corrective actions. Collaborate with team members on career development and goal setting.
  • Identify and implement appropriate technical solutions to meet business requirements. Partner with Product Management and business stakeholders to recognize and address evolving technical needs.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise and Solution Architects to ensure proposed solutions meet business needs and align with Casey's technical architecture.
  • Guide the team in identifying and executing refactoring and upgrade opportunities to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Ensure the team delivers dependable and responsive support in coordination with IT Operations.
  • Define timelines for team goals in alignment with organizational objectives. Ensure work is regularly prioritized in collaboration with program management and business partners.
  • Monitor team performance using agile methodologies. Drive continuous improvement in processes, capabilities, and delivery velocity.
  • Estimate, monitor, and manage cloud, third-party, and supplier expenditures. Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize performance and cost efficiency.
  • Stay current with IT trends and incorporate relevant standards in collaboration with Enterprise and Solution Architecture. Promote continuous learning and self-development within the team.
  • Coordinate with peer managers to establish and promote engineering best practices.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

This role does not allow for 100% remote work. Qualified out of state candidates must be willing to relocate and will need to live within a daily commutable distance of Casey's Store Support Center in Ankeny, IA and be willing to work onsite 5 days a week.

Compensation:

Starting pay range: $120,200 - $167,300. Actual pay may vary based on Casey's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. This position is eligible for annual cash bonuses based on company performance and an annual equity grant in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the typical hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline or work-related equivalent experience required.
