Position Overview
Cyber B.A.T. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for the design, development, integration, and delivery of complex, mission-critical software systems. This role will oversee multiple software development teams, establish engineering processes, guide software architecture decisions, and ensure the successful execution of large-scale software initiatives utilizing modern DevOps and CI/CD methodologies.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the analysis of user and mission requirements to define software architecture, design, and performance objectives
  • Direct the design, development, testing, integration, and deployment of enterprise software systems
  • Oversee the development of new software capabilities and the enhancement of existing applications
  • Lead efforts to debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software defects while improving overall system performance
  • Design and implement scalable software architectures, algorithms, and high-performance computing solutions
  • Design and develop complex database interfaces, data repositories, and application integrations
  • Develop algorithms that satisfy strict timing, resource utilization, interface, and performance constraints
  • Apply scientific analysis and mathematical modeling techniques to software design and system optimization
  • Collaborate with system engineers, hardware engineers, and customer stakeholders to define software requirements, system interfaces, project constraints, and operational capabilities
  • Coordinate software installation, deployment, integration, and operational validation activities
  • Establish, review, and enforce software quality standards, engineering processes, and development best practices
  • Recommend and implement improvements to software development methodologies, documentation standards, and engineering workflows
  • Produce, review, and approve software design documentation, technical documentation, and engineering artifacts
  • Oversee quality assurance activities, code reviews, software readiness reviews, and testing efforts across multiple development teams
  • Select and tailor software development methodologies in collaboration with customers and systems engineering organizations
  • Recommend emerging technologies, tools, and engineering processes to improve software development efficiency and mission effectiveness
  • Serve as the technical lead for multiple software development teams, providing strategic direction, mentoring, and engineering oversight
  • Delegate software development, testing, and integration activities while monitoring team performance, project schedules, and technical quality
  • Ensure software solutions meet customer requirements, operational objectives, security standards, and organizational quality expectations
  • Support modern DevOps initiatives through automated build, deployment, and infrastructure management solutions
  • Design, implement, and oversee enterprise CI/CD pipelines to improve software delivery, scalability, and operational reliability

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with a current Maryland Polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 20 years of directly related professional experience; or 24 years of relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • Extensive experience leading the architecture, design, development, integration, and deployment of large-scale software systems
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple software development teams and managing complex engineering efforts
  • Experience defining software architectures, development strategies, and engineering best practices
  • Extensive experience gathering and analyzing user, system, and mission requirements to develop technical solutions
  • Experience designing high-performance software, complex algorithms, and enterprise-scale applications
  • Experience designing and implementing complex database interfaces and data repository integrations
  • Proficiency developing software using one or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, and Python
  • Experience developing applications for Windows and/or UNIX/Linux operating environments
  • Experience utilizing scripting languages to automate software development and system administration tasks
  • Extensive experience with modern DevOps technologies, including: Artifactory, Docker, Terraform, Ansible and Packer
  • Extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as: Jenkins and Bamboo
  • Experience establishing software quality assurance standards, engineering governance, and development lifecycle processes
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and implement emerging technologies, tools, and engineering methodologies
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple technical teams and large-scale software initiatives
