Software Engineer with strong Python and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) expertise to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you will design, deploy, and maintain complex, cloud-native software architectures capable of executing processing-intensive analytics and managing large-scale data workflows. You won't just write application code-you'll architect resilient AWS environments using Terraform, containerize microservices with Kubernetes or ECS, automate deployment pipelines, and derive clear technical requirements through cross-team collaboration. The annual base salary range for this role is $186,000-$220,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required Skills- Python Engineering: Strong, hands-on experience developing application software and automation tooling in Python.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proven expertise provisioning and managing cloud resources using Terraform.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Direct experience deploying containerized applications with Kubernetes (K8s) or AWS Elastic Container Service (ECS).
- AWS Cloud Native Development: Practical experience engineering, deploying, and supporting software applications within AWS environments.
- Requirements & Cross-Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to derive software requirements from system specifications and collaborate effectively across multi-team software initiatives.
- Agile Lifecycle Expertise: Solid background developing software within Agile/Scrum team frameworks.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, PLUS
7+ years of professional software engineering experience OR
Master's Degree in a related field, PLUS
5+ years of specialized software development experience OR
High School Diploma / GED, PLUS
11+ years of hands-on technical software engineering and cloud deployment experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired SkillsCI/CD Pipeline Automation: Experience creating and managing automated continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines using
GitLab CI/CD.
AWS Cloud Architecture: Advanced knowledge of AWS architecture design patterns, cloud security controls, and resource optimization.
Cloud Resilience & High Availability: Hands-on experience engineering cloud stability solutions, disaster recovery, and automated system failovers.
