Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Systems Engineer to support the NextGenGeo Overhead Persistent InfraRed (NGG OPIR) program's Functional Test Assembly (FTA) team. As a Level 2 engineer, you will play a critical role in leading the technical development and implementation of test and verification strategies for the NGG OPIR system. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the successful integration, test, and delivery of the program's complex systems and subsystems. The Next-Gen OPIR satellites are designed to detect and track ballistic missile launches, providing early warning of potential attacks.
The NGG OPIR FTA Lab supports Space Vehicle design, development, qualification, and operations. The NGG FTA uses a combination of flight like hardware, emulations, software, simulations and tools to represent a fully functioning space vehicle on the ground or in orbit. The FTA Lab provides a platform for the development, test, and integration of both hardware (HW) and software (SW) products.
Coordinate and reach out across the program pro-actively to coordinate and resolve complex technical issues affecting lab operations
Perform FTA lab operations on shift, coordinating various test activities in the lab
Participate in technical reviews, including design reviews, test readiness reviews, and test results reviews, to ensure that the system meets technical and performance requirements
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including test plans, test procedures, and test reports, to ensure compliance with program requirements and industry standards
Documentation is required to include various processes in the lab
Required to work periodic off-shifts and/or weekend support to meet the NGG program, to include the FTA and Flight Operations Support (FOS) group objectives
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
• Background in test and verification, including experience with functional test assembly and integration
• Active Secret security clearance
• Hands-On Hardware and/or software integration experience
• Ability to develop and debug Python scripts
Desired skills
• Experience with NGG OPIR or similar space-based systems
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including IEEE, ISO, and DoD standards
• Experience with test automation frameworks and tools, such as Python, LabVIEW, or TestStand
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and identify technical risks
• Proficiency with Jira, Structure and/or Agile Hive
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in complex technical environments.
• Familiarity with a lab environment
• Proficiency in writing test procedures and documentation
• Cross-functional engineering experience, such as Electrical, Mechanical, Software and/or Systems Engineering
• Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $76,500 - $134,895. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
