RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: No relocation assistance available CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR START: Yes CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the Time Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer 6 Level 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO. Position Overview: The Software Engineer 6 Level 3 responsibilities include software development and support of the GMD Fire Controls (GFC) suite of products within the Missile Defense Agency 6s (MDA) Ground-based Midcourse Defense Weapon System (GWS) program. You will be responsible for developing and implementing software updates that best meet changing customer needs for new and existing features of the GFC system, collaborating with team members, and working in a cross-functional agile scrum team. The selected individual will support the GFC product development out of Colorado Springs, CO and will primarily be working with the Command and Control (C2) Graphical User Interface (GUI). Essential Functions: 6 Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions with ingenuity and creativity. 6 Collaborates with other software and systems engineers to determine computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems with program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions. 6 Ensure software standards are met. 6 Will demonstrate a thorough understanding and wide application of software development related technical principles, theories, and concepts. Show general knowledge of other related disciplines. 6 Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment. 6 Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction. 6 Apply "systems thinking" to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs. 6 Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives. Basic Qualifications: 6 Bachelor 6s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master 6s Degree and 3 years of related work experience, or 1 year of related work experience with a PhD. 6 Experience developing software in object-oriented C++ for 3+ years. 6 Fundamental understanding of C++. 6 Practical experience with UI/UX Design. 6 Practical experience with Software Design. 6 Experience working with (RHEL) Linux Red Hat environment. 6 Experience debugging software. 6 Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs. 6 Applicants must have a current active in-scope US Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start. Preferred Qualifications: 6 Experience with Missile Defense Agency systems. 6 Understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery. 6 Familiarity with Agile software development practices, Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), and Scaled Agile Framework. 6 Familiarity with version control software and Atlassian tools. i.e. Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, and Jenkins. 6 5+ years of experience with C++. 6 Ability to maintain and upgrade existing GUI application windows developed using Motif within a large code base. 6 Familiarity with TeleUSE GUI Builder and Motif widget sets. 6 Experience programming in OpenGL and a basic understanding of 2D / 3D mapping UI a plus. 6 Experience debugging software with GDB. 6 Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and government customer personnel. 6 Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions based on limited direction and definition. 6 Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project goals. Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate 6s experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
