Job Title:Software Engineer/Developer

Job Summary:

KBR is seeking a Software Engineer/Developer to join our team in Albuquerque, NM. This position supports the Air Force Research Laboratory's Space Warfare Directorate (ARFL/RJ), the Air Force's center of excellence for space research. AFRL/RJ develops and transitions technologies that provide space-based capabilities to the nation. In this role, you will work with government and industry leaders to develop new modeling & simulation capabilities for space, driving critical analyses and investment decisions for pathfinding technologies.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Perform software design and development in C++, Python, and proprietary AFSIM script.
  • Collaborate with customers and systems engineers and subject matter experts to develop, refine and translate requirements
  • Research trends for various concept designs and translate to detailed software models
  • Provide technical engineering support to analysis projects
  • Conduct modeling and simulation (M&S) study and analysis support
  • Analyze test data on various space systems, compare to M&S results, provide summary reports
  • Support modeling and simulation for space systems (e.g., SATCOM, GPS and GNSS)
  • Lead or manage aspects of or full projects
  • Solve complex problems
  • Meet regularly with customer, provide oral and written status on tasks


Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of programming experience with C++, Python, Matlab, and Visual Basic. Experience using AFSIM is highly desired.
  • Some experience in system architecting, modeling, simulation, analysis, developing concepts, early systems engineering, and/or soliciting concepts from industry and stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing to support acquisition documentation and effectively collaborate among the engineering team and management to achieve common project goals
  • Ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components
  • Ability to take technical findings/data to generate analysis required to support informed decisions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance is required


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences or other related degree
  • General knowledge of other software programming frameworks and databases and the ability to apply that knowledge to the software domain
  • Knowledge of the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) for M&S efforts
  • Some understanding of space-based assets, including satellite constellations, space-based radar, space weather, space ISR and GPS
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience working with constructive mission simulations
  • Experience conducting modeling and simulation (M&S) study and analysis support
  • General knowledge of real-time target environments, including processor and network architectures, communication protocols and exiting simulation framework design/use
  • Working knowledge of electronic warfare in a technical field such as aircraft, ship, missile, or space systems
  • Mission Level Analysis derived from physics-based modeling and simulation
  • Experience supporting system engineering and integration of concept development, systems design and architecture, modeling and simulation, engineering integration, test and evaluation
  • An active TS/SCI clearance is preferred.

  • Working Hours: Standard, 40 hours per week (Full-time)
