As a Software Engineer 2, you will be building a brand-new Pharmacy Eligibility application. This will involve modernizing legacy components, improved resiliency and performance, and enhanced backend workflows. The goal is to ensure our members get their claims adjudicated in a timely manner.
** This is a remote work opportunity, but you must work within one hour of Louisville, KY, Dallas, TX or Nashville, TN for occasional meetings, work sessions or conferences. **

Design, build, and deliver high-quality software solutions that enhance healthcare and wellness experiences.
Develop to optimize scalability, reliability, stability and maintainability.
Participate across the full development lifecycle, including coding, testing, debugging, optimizing, and deploying production-ready systems.
Improve engineering quality through robust testing strategies, tooling, automation, and adherence to standards.
Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams, partnering with product, architecture, and quality assurance to create solutions aligned with business and consumer needs.
Contribute to an engineering culture that values innovation, continuous learning, and continuous improvement of the consumer journey.
Serve as a technical authority, driving architectural direction, elevating engineering quality, and delivering scalable applications that support healthcare outcomes.
This role will get some direction from a Senior Software Engineer and is well-suited for individuals seeking opportunities in cutting-edge technology, including the use of AI tools such as Claude code or GitHub Copilot.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
3+ years of experience in systems analysis or application programming development
Experience in PySpark, Databricks and Cloud engineering
Experience deploying and maintaining Cloud based applications using Azure App Service or Azure Kubernetes Service
Experience with relational databases at scale
Knowledge of server-side languages .Net, .Net Core or .Net Framework 7.0 and higher
Experience with event driven or message driven systems
Experience with CI/CD software development methodology
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
PBM experience
Experience using GCP or Azure
Experience with PostgreSQL or MS-SQL
Experience with Kafka Streaming platform
Experience with a modern, client-side framework such as Angular, React or Vue
Work-At-Home Requirements
To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:
At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership
Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$80,900 - $110,300 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
