Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Software Engineer - AVP in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available):

  • Participate in all aspects of software delivery, including analysis, requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and handover to the production support team.
  • Design, develop and improve software, utilizing various engineering methodologies including Java and relational databases on Windows and Linux platforms, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for Barclays.
  • Provide support to the Run the Bank (RTB) team and handle urgent production issues for Barclays's Enterprise Security Master (ESM).
  • Perform application development and support using Barclays Way methodologies, including change requests and client request lifecycle management via Jira.
  • Guide and assist in onboarding activities for Barclays Reference Data systems, ensuring product functionality meets business requirements.
  • Integrate data distribution with the latest technologies for global use, serving as the SME in the US for various data applications like regulatory reporting and trading desks.
  • Mentor developers and provide technical guidance and training.
  • Collaborate with clients to gather requirements, present updates, and provide post implementation support.
  • May telecommute pursuant to company policies. [Hybrid role]


Minimum Salary: $189,592 per year

Maximum Salary: $195,000 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
