Who You'll Work With:You'll join the Application Engineering team, which builds the systems and data platform that power investment workflows across Private Alternatives branch of the firm-from core back-office applications (deals, tranches, accounting) to newer AI-driven tools used directly by traders.
The team is distributed across Minneapolis and Nashville. In Nashville, you'll work closely with a small, high-impact group of engineers and business analysts, while collaborating daily with teammates in Minneapolis across engineering and analytics.
What You'll Do:- Build and operate a FastAPI-based platform supporting trading, analytics, risk, and back-office workflows
- Build and evolve internal AI tools, including Snowflake-based agents that enable traders to explore firm data via natural language
- Design scalable APIs across domains like trades, positions, exposures, and investor accounting
- Develop data services on top of Snowflake, with a focus on performance and usability
- Integrate LLM capabilities (AWS Bedrock, Snowflake Cortex) into applications, including conversational interfaces and document workflows
- Connect systems across the stack, including BI tools (Looker, Sigma), AWS services (ECS, Lambda), and internal platforms
- Implement background processing pipelines (Redis Queue) for reporting and asynchronous workflows
- Define and manage infrastructure using Terraform and AWS
- Maintain high code quality through testing, CI/CD, and code standards
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate complex data needs into reliable systems
What We're Looking For:- Around 5 years of software engineering experience
- Strong Python skills and experience building production APIs
- Solid SQL skills and experience with data warehouses (Snowflake a plus)
- Experience with AWS and infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred)
- Familiarity with Docker, Redis, and background job systems is ideal
- Interest in or experience with LLMs and AI features (prompting, RAG, agents)
- Experience with relational databases and ORMs (PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy)
- Strong testing practices and a focus on code quality
- Clear communicator who values simple, maintainable code
