Full Job Description
The Player Platform Solutions team owns the operational excellence, reliability, and quality of the player across Web and TV. We build and maintain test frameworks and automation, drive quality assessment and performance improvements, enhance developer productivity workflows, and own infrastructure tooling, monitoring, and release management for the player. We partner with internal and external teams on platform-specific and foundational playback needs — device security, client–server communication, performance optimization — and work closely with Core Playback and Stream Algorithms to ensure a consistent, high-quality playback experience for members worldwide.

We're the team that makes sure playback just works on living-room devices and browsers at global scale — and we're evolving how we test, debug, and ship the player using the latest tools, including AI, as a core capability rather than a side experiment to make the Player safe and fast to change on every TV and Web platform.

This  team consists of engineers from diverse backgrounds, bringing expertise across multiple disciplines, including content protection, client-server communication, networking protocols, continuous integration, test automation, experimentation, and software engineering. Our success is driven by self-motivated, collaborative, and curious engineers who prioritize the team's goals.

We are seeking a software engineer with strong experience in test development, automation, and CI/CD pipelines to join our team. Your primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing automated tests and tooling that ensure high-quality streaming experiences on TV and Web devices. You will contribute to improving our build, integration, and release workflows so features and fixes ship quickly and reliably. You'll partner with engineers across the team to scope and deliver projects end to end, and grow your depth in playback quality and developer productivity.

What sets you apart?

  • You take ownership of well-scoped test automation projects and see them through to production.
  • You have hands-on experience working with CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and release automation, ensuring high velocity and quality in software delivery.
  • You use data and metrics to investigate quality and reliability issues, and raise the ones worth fixing.
  • You communicate clearly and work effectively with engineers on adjacent teams.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing GenAI in your day-to-day development workflow, including test automation and CI/CD/release processes.

What skills are essential to us?

  • Solid software engineering experience (roughly 3+ years, or equivalent depth) with a focus on test development
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Spinnaker, or GitHub Actions) and comfort debugging and extending build and release pipelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to give thoughtful code reviews and share what you learn with the team.
  • Exposure to A/B testing or experimentation workflows.
  • Nice to have: Experience in streaming media playback, architecture, and industry protocols relevant to video streaming.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $250,000.00 - $413,000.00.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off. Full-time salaried employees are immediately entitled to flexible time off. See more details about our Benefits here.
