Position Title: Software Development Engineer

Location: Grand Prairie, TX (Hybrid)

Siemens is seeking an energetic and motivated Junior Software Development Engineer to join our Digital Solutions Software team. This entry-level position will contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of software solutions that combine power system data, industrial connectivity, cloud technologies, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities.

Working closely with senior software engineers, architects, product managers, and power system experts, you will help develop modern applications and services that deliver intelligent insights, automation, predictive analytics, and operational value for customers across commercial, industrial, and utility environments.

You will make an impact with the following responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software solutions supporting Siemens Digital Solutions products.
  • Develop and enhance applications using modern software engineering practices and tools.
  • Contribute to AI-enabled capabilities such as data analytics, anomaly detection, intelligent search, copilots, predictive maintenance, and workflow automation.
  • Develop software interfaces connecting field devices, power systems, cloud platforms, and business applications.
  • Support the implementation of REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-connected architectures.
  • Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, testing activities, and continuous integration/deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, UX designers, and domain experts to deliver product features.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving software issues.
  • Contribute to development schedules and project deliverables.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for software quality, architecture, security, and development standards.
  • Document technical designs, implementation details, and operational procedures.
  • Support proof-of-concept and innovation projects involving AI, Industrial IoT, digital twins, and advanced analytics.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Data Science.
  • 0-2 years of software development experience including internships, co-ops, academic projects, or professional experience.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
  • Experience developing software using one or more programming languages: C#; Python; Java; C++
  • Familiarity with source control systems such as Git.
  • Understanding of web technologies and API-based architectures.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Software Development:
  • C# or similar object-oriented programming language
  • Python
  • REST APIs and HTTP-based services
  • Git source control
  • Software debugging and troubleshooting
  • Unit testing and automated testing practices

Development Tools:
  • Visual Studio and/or VS Code
  • GitHub or Azure DevOps
  • Docker or container technologies
  • Must be eligible to work in the US with no sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn emerging technologies and continuously develop technical expertise.
  • Exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, or data analytics through coursework, internships, hackathons, or personal projects.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with modern web application frameworks.
  • Experience developing or consuming APIs.
  • Experience with MQTT, OPC UA, or Industrial IoT technologies.
  • Understanding of software architecture patterns and microservices.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools and coding copilots.
