Job Description
You will be a Software Design Engineer for the Integrated Maintenance Information System (IMIS) team. Our team is responsible for supporting the ground systems maintenance of the F-22 aircraft. IMIS hardware/software connects to the aircraft automating numerous processes to improve maintenance performance and reduce management, supervisory, and technical overhead. The F-22 IMIS applications reduce man-hours needed to service, troubleshoot, and repair the F-22 aircraft.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Software Design Engineer you will be responsible for developing system level requirements for new software capabilities, working with systems engineering to develop mid level and low level design, exploring how to integrate new software tools into legacy code base, creating systems engineering artifacts (architecture diagrams, system flows, design documents, etc.), and coordinating development plans with systems, software, and test teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Working the redesign and architecture of IMIS applications
• Performing subsystem level requirements decomposition and traceability
• Leading technical trade studies
• Working with internal and external stakeholders to make sure requirements are testable and verification documentation is available
• Coordinating large scale development projects and setting project milestones
• Collaborate with developers and engineers to implement designs, guide the development process, and ensuring compliance with requirements

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or above in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience
• Experience using Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• Experience with software design patterns, principles, and architectures (e.g., microservices, monolithic, event-driven)
• Knowledge of system architecture and design principles
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, C#)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Desired skills
• Experience with system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., UML, SysML, Cameo)
• Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., relational, NoSQL, graph)
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $113,900 - $200,905. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $131,000 - $227,125. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
