General Function:
The Corporate Software Asset Manager is accountable to senior management for the effective design, execution, and continuous improvement of the Software Asset Management (SAM) program. This individual ensures that SAM processes are clearly defined, well understood, and consistently followed across all IT Lines of Business.
The primary objective of this role is to ensure all software assets are accurately identified, tracked, and managed throughout their full lifecycle—from procurement and licensing through deployment, optimization, and end-of-life or retirement—while maintaining compliance with vendor agreements and regulatory requirements.
This role is responsible and accountable for risk management by proactively exchanging ideas and perspectives, escalating concerns as appropriate, and adhering to established policies and procedures. The Software Asset Manager demonstrates a strong commitment to doing what is right for customers and colleagues, ensuring that actions and behaviors contribute to a positive customer experience. Operating within the Bank’s risk appetite, this role consistently identifies, assesses, manages, monitors, and reports on risks related to software usage, licensing, and compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Standardize discovered software asset data to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Create and maintain normalized software publisher names, product names, and versions.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of software models.
- Standardize software models to streamline procurement and compliance.
- Evaluate and select software models based on performance, cost, and compatibility.
- Manage and optimize the request, acquisition, deployment, maintenance, utilization, and disposal of software entitlements.
- Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and regulatory requirements.
- Track, evaluate, and manage software license rights, compliance, and optimization.
- Reconcile software installations with entitlements to determine the effective license position (ELP).
- Identify and mitigate compliance risks and optimize software usage.
- Understand the software asset management processes within the ServiceNow platform.
- Understand the configuration and customization of ServiceNow modules to support software asset management.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Preferred: ServiceNow Fundamentals
- Preferred: Software Asset Management (SAM) Professional Fundamentals
- Preferred: Certified Implementation Specialist - Software Asset Management (CIS-SAM)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT asset management or a related field.
- Proven track record of managing software assets and implementing lifecycle management processes.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, particularly in software asset management.
- Experience in implementing and optimizing software asset management processes within ServiceNow.
- Previous experience in a highly regulated environment
- ITIL 3 or 4 Foundation certification (ITIL 3 Expert preferred)
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience communicating with all levels of an organization including C level communications

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
