About You

You are a highly skilled and independent thought leader with a passion for developing high-quality products. You excel at tackling intricate, open-ended challenges and are capable of forming strong collaborative relationships across various teams. You have a proven track record of building scalable, high-performance applications from the ground up and are adept at influencing strategic decisions within your department or technical domain. You emphasize system-level design, technical strategy and schema design across the domain. Your expertise with Architecture, AI, GenAI, and LLMs enables you to apply these tools effectively to solve complex enterprise problems.

In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping our strategic vision and integrating AI into our enterprise employee-facing applications. As a vital member of the team, you will be responsible for creating company-wide tools that enhance productivity and streamline operations. You will design, develop, and maintain robust products and infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with third-party and internal services. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and persuasively will be crucial in collaborating across functions and driving impactful solutions. Your work collaborating cross-functionally across your scope allows you to lead, grow, and create opportunities for colleagues so they can scale their impact.

Responsibilities
  • Own the technical architecture and long-term system design for the Talent Tech Engineering domain

  • Set architectural standards and patterns (e.g., service boundaries, data models, integration patterns) adopted across multiple teams.

  • Drive architecture reviews and produce design docs/ADRs that guide other engineers' implementation choices.

  • Identify and de-risk systemic technical debt or scalability constraints before they become team-level problems.

  • Lead and influence longer-term engineering and GenAI-related strategies for Talent Tech Engineering.

  • Lead cross-functional technical efforts, driving alignment and consensus across diverse teams.

  • Design and implement scalable GenAI systems and make critical technical decisions on technology, reliability, and performance.

  • Design, build, and maintain infrastructure for modern integration methods between our applications, third-party services, and other Netflix teams' services.

  • Solve complex, high-impact problems and influence strategies to improve system and product quality across N-Tech Engineering.

  • Influence strategies and execution roadmaps within your department or technical areas of expertise, ensuring alignment with business goals.

  • Deliver a variety of artifacts, including code, algorithms, designs, prototypes, strategies, or architectures, that lead to system simplification and higher impact.

  • Collaborate extremely effectively with product managers, designers, other engineers, stakeholders, and vendors on projects within the team and across all of Netflix.

  • Communicate complex technical issues and business impacts clearly to varied audiences.

Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years of experience as a software architect/engineer, demonstrably delivering on time and with quality

  • 5+ years of deep experience with AI, GenAI, LLMs, ML, etc.

  • Experience as a technical/systems architect (not just senior engineer) owning cross-team or cross-domain designs.

  • Track record of enterprise architecture governance 6 data flow, service boundaries, system integration patterns at scale.

  • Experience with architecture frameworks/practices (e.g., C4 modeling, ADRs, TOGAF-style governance) a plus.

  • Expert knowledge of data structures, algorithms, modern design patterns, and layers

  • Expert knowledge of Python and Java.

  • Demonstrable ability to lead a project, deliver an end product on time, at quality, and influence technical roadmaps

  • Passion to build internal solutions and own the development of enterprise-wide applications

  • Extensive knowledge of building quality APIs for internal and external products

  • Lots of experience integrating internal and third-party services into your solutions

  • Expert knowledge of cloud computing platforms like Amazon Web Services

  • Deep experience with Node, JavaScript, React, SpringBoot, NoSQL, and GraphQL

  • Proven track record of mentoring and developing other engineers

  • Ability to shift from tactical to strategic approaches and break down large problems into manageable pieces

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $499,000.00 - $820,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
