The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:Will provide concrete resources and educational support to Cancer Support Community members, hospital patients, and their families. Must be able to work flexible hours including occasional evenings, be willing to work with Cancer Services Interdisciplinary Team, and be available to participate in outreach events. Will assist with program development, program calendar preparation and distribution, and facilitate support groups. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
Qualifications:- Masters degree in social work.
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW).
- Prior experience in Medical Social Work required.
- Oncology experience preferred.
Scheduling Requirements:Essential Functions:- Collaborates with team members to facilitate consistent and coordinated patient care.
- Establish and facilitate patient and family support groups.
- Maintains professional affiliation and license. Participates in continuing education for professional development.
- Participates in policy writing.
- Provides direct counseling and emotional support.
- Provides psychosocial assessments of brain tumor patients and their families.
- Provides staff and public education as appropriate.
- Serves as patient advocate.
- Serves as referral/resource person.
