What You'll DoIn this role, you'll help shape how Principal and the sub-brand, Principal Asset Management show up across social channels, translating thought leadership, campaigns, events, business priorities, and subject matter expertise into engaging content and impactful social experiences. You'll play a key role in content planning, editorial management, channel execution, and performance optimization while partnering across marketing, communications, creative, and business teams to identify, prioritize, and activate content opportunities that strengthen our brands and grow audience engagement.
What You'll Do
- Execute and contribute to broader social media strategies, planning and activating campaigns and content programs that strengthen and grow the Principal and Principal Asset Management.
- Own the Principal Asset Management social editorial calendar, identifying content opportunities, coordinating key elements with stakeholders, and maintaining a pipeline of content across channels.
- Lead content planning and campaign activation efforts from concept through execution, ensuring alignment with business priorities, and audience needs.
- Create, manage, and publish content across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and emerging platforms while maintaining channel best practices and publishing workflows.
- Partner with creative teams, subject matter experts, executives, and marketing partners to develop social-first, executive, video, and event content, as well as adapt existing marketing assets for social media.
- Translate thought leadership, campaigns, events, and business priorities into engaging social content and activation opportunities.
- Provide strategic recommendations on content format, channel selection, timing, and activation approaches to maximize impact and engagement.
- Monitor platform trends, audience behaviors, algorithm changes, and emerging social media best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
- Support live event coverage and on-site content creation opportunities, including video production, real-time storytelling, and social activation.
- Analyze channel and campaign performance, develop reporting and insights, and recommend optimizations based on what is and isn't working.
- Manage content execution and channel operations, ensuring content is published accurately, on time, and aligned with brand standards.
- Help establish and advance social media standards, governance, education, and best practices across Principal.
Who You Are
- 5+ years of experience in social media marketing, content strategy, editorial planning, and project management.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, content ecosystems, audience engagement strategies, and platform algorithms.
- Experience managing content calendars, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, and leading content programs from planning through execution.
- Proven ability to create and oversee a variety of content formats, including social-first content, video, executive thought leadership, and event-based content.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience analyzing social media performance data and translating insights into actionable recommendations and content optimizations.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with the ability to build alignment and drive progress across teams.
- Experience using social media management, publishing, and analytics tools such as Sprinklr.
- Curiosity for emerging trends, technologies, platforms, and evolving social behaviors.
- B2B marketing and/or financial services experience is a plus.

Salary Range InformationSalary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range$89300 - $120650 / year
Time Off ProgramFlexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role will be located at Principal World Headquarters in Des Moines IA and will benefit from a hybrid work arrangement with 3 days a week in the office in a typical work week.
