Position Overview

The Division of Family and Community Services is seeking to hire a detail-oriented SNAP Integrity position to perform comprehensive, detailed, analytical, and investigative case record reviews on State and Federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) cases for compliance with Federal SNAP regulations, State regulations and Department of Human Services (DHS) rules, policies, and procedures. Conducts federally mandated interviews on location statewide; investigates and verifies information and statements provided by program recipients. Reviews compliance with program standards.

Essential Functions

  • Performs comprehensive, detailed, analytical, and investigative case record reviews within an assigned geographical location to determine compliance with Federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP) regulations, State regulations and Department of Human Services (DHS) rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducts federally mandated SNAP Quality Control (QC) interviews.
  • Independently constructs the SNAP integrity review case file using the State's Integrated Eligibility System, Adobe, and a federal quality control database system while applying Illinois SNAP policies and procedures outlined in the SNAP Quality Control Review Handbook to formulate a conclusion on the case accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepares narrative reports on case review findings using Microsoft 365 Office programs for submittal to the Bureau and/or USDA-FNS.
  • Reviews, studies, and applies Federal and State SNAP policies, procedures, and regulations as well as DHS policies, rules and procedures governing the review sample.
  • Participates in special programs required to test procedures, methods, and/or systems designed to improve department regulations prior to permanent implementation.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned with are reasonably within the scope of duties that are enumerated above.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in one of the behavioral sciences.
  • Requires two (2) years of professional experience in casework or related area.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of professional experience administering a supplemental nutrition assistance program.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience working with public aid assistance program policies, rules, and procedures including those associated with Federal and State Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP).
  • Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing public assistance interviewing techniques.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience examining and evaluating data in accordance with established criteria.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience presenting and preparing clear, concise, and accurate reports.


Conditions of Employment

  • Travel is required in the performance of duties with overnight stays as appropriate.
