Full Job Description
We are seeking a full-time or part-time Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Veterinary Surgeon to join our collaborative Emergency and Specialty team. In this role, you will provide advanced surgical care for a diverse caseload, including soft tissue, orthopedic, neurologic, and emergency surgical procedures. You will work alongside a highly skilled team of specialists, emergency clinicians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians, and support staff to deliver exceptional patient care and outstanding client service.
The ideal candidate is confident managing complex surgical cases, developing comprehensive treatment plans, and utilizing advanced diagnostic and surgical techniques. You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our specialty services to ensure seamless, multidisciplinary patient care while helping to advance the growth and success of our surgical service.
Responsibilities include:
• Providing high-quality surgical care across a broad range of soft tissue, orthopedic, neurologic, and emergency procedures
• Participating in emergency surgical coverage as part of a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital
• Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Internal Medicine, Oncology, Radiology, Emergency and Critical Care, and other specialty services
• Evaluating surgical candidates, developing individualized treatment plans, and performing advanced surgical procedures while prioritizing patient safety and comfort
• Communicating clearly and compassionately with clients, referring veterinarians, and internal team members regarding diagnoses, treatment recommendations, prognoses, and follow-up care
• Mentoring and supporting Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, interns, and other members of the surgical support team
• Participating in surgical case rounds, continuing education, and multidisciplinary discussions to optimize outcomes for complex cases
• Utilizing advanced diagnostic and surgical technologies, including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, CT imaging, and in-house laboratory services
• Maintaining accurate and timely medical records using EzyVet and Smart Flow
• Remaining current with advancements in veterinary surgery through continuing education, professional
development, and evidence-based medicine

Qualifications
• DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school
• Board Certification in Small Animal Surgery (ACVS or ECVS) or completion of a surgical residency with intent to pursue board certification
• Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in the State of New York
• Three or more years of clinical experience in small animal surgery
• Experience performing a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic procedures
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume referral and emergency setting
• Interest in contributing to the continued growth and advancement of a surgical service
